🌳 The alder: Europe's #1 planted tree this season.

We used it in so many projects this year. Why?

Because this tree loves wet ground where other trees give up, riverbanks, floodplains, soggy soil. Its roots team up with bacteria that pull nitrogen from the air and feeds it straight into the earth, so no fertiliser is needed. Fast-growing, tough, and quietly doing more for the soil than almost any other species.

What happens when thousands of people at an international conference are connected to climate action?

At 2025 in Gothenburg, participants received the opportunity to support reforestation projects across Europe through tree adoption, while EAIE also contributed with 285 Carbon Removal Credits to address part of the event’s emissions.

With 7,500 participants and more than 200 exhibitors involved, this collaboration showed how the higher education community can come together to create positive impact.

Monitoring a restoration project goes far beyond counting trees.
eco, the company that certifies our carbon removal projects, uses bioacoustic sensors to monitor the health of our plantations. By listening to the soil, they can assess how the ecosystem is recovering over time. 🌱

Adyen has been with us since 2022, planting with its employees in more than seven European countries and helping put almost 29,000 trees in the ground. After more than 25 planting events, something remains constant: their unstoppable energy and enthusiasm. 🌟 In this video, Jacqueline Zhou, representative at our donors' event, shares how much of this energy has to do with the work of our team. From helping establish our first Miyawaki forest in Nice to planting trees alongside our team in the Netherlands, they've contributed to healthier and more resilient landscapes.

Together, we've planted 2,849 trees and generated 101 Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) credits.

We're glad to have Waterland on board. In this video, they share the three things they value most about our collaboration so far. We spend a lot of time talking about trees. But after visiting our project in Santa Clara-a-Velha, Portugal, we couldn't stop talking about the BEES 🐝

They were everywhere.

The air was buzzing, wildflowers covered the ground, and every corner of the landscape felt alive. It was a reminder that when ecosystems begin to recover, you don't just see it. You hear it.

For us, planting trees is only the beginning. Our goal is to help ecosystems recover by bringing back native species, supporting natural regeneration, and creating the conditions for wildlife to return.

Because a healthy forest isn't measured only by the number of trees.

It's measured by everything that comes back with them. 🌼🐝🌳

's sustainability journey has taken them beyond the racetrack and into the forest.🌳

As part of their efforts to reduce and compensate emissions, KNAF has supported reforestation projects with Life Terra in the Netherlands and Germany for two consecutive seasons. Alongside adopting trees, their team also joined planting events to experience the impact firsthand and learn more about the landscapes they were helping restore.

Together, we've planted 37,100 trees and engaged 115 participants in climate action.

Thank you to everyone at KNAF who helped turn ambition into action.

For many of us in modern society, forests have become a place we pass through 🍃 not a place where we feel we belong. Milan Pestel’s workshop (.bushcraft) brought back that lost sense of belonging 🌳 and reminded us that reconnecting with forests is as important as planting them.
