Life Terra

Life Terra Restoring our connection with the earth by facilitating tree planting and empowering communities.

A conference of 7,000 people comes with a footprint. Together with , we’re working to address part of it through long-term tree planting and ecosystem restoration across Europe.

So far, more than 7,000 trees have already been adopted through the partnership, alongside planting days that bring together universities, institutions, volunteers, and organisers in the field.

This collaboration also brings participants into the field, connecting universities, institutions, volunteers, and organisers through practical climate action instead of distant targets and reports.

We asked our partners and supporters a simple question:

👉 What’s the first word that comes to mind when you hear “Life Terra”?

Their answers made us smile. And think. And keep going. 🌱

This is what five years of collaboration, planting, and shared purpose sound like.

👇 And you? What word would you choose? Tell us in the comments.

Life Terra participated in , an annual initiative hosted by the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) that brings individuals and organisations together for a week of hands-on restoration projects worldwide.

We hosted a tree monitoring and maintenance in Benissa (Spain). We gathered with friends and family to take care of the trees planted back in 2022 and 2023 to boost biodiversity and improve the soil conditions of our farm.

💧 A drip irrigation system was also installed to continue supporting their survival and healthy growth during the summer season.

It was encouraging to see many of the trees developing well 🙌 In the long term, the lentisk trees planted will help create a green hedge providing a natural wind barrier for our orchard, while stabilising slopes.

And we have observed a significant increase in birds 🐦‍⬛ , worms 🪱 , pollinators 🐝 and other insects 🐜 in the area!

We are happy to take part in such inspiring initiatives. Together, we make a lasting difference for the ecosystems we all share 💚

We returned to the fields with for the final planting event of the season together 🙌🏼 🇸🇪 🇸🇪 🇸🇪

This time, the collaboration brought us to Yttereneby Gård, a biodynamic farm in Järna, 🇸🇪, with more than 60 years of experience working in harmony with nature.

Together with the farm team, we are beginning a broader effort to strengthen ecological connectivity across the landscape and create native biodiversity hedges.

These new hedges will provide:
🦊shelter for wildlife
🐝food sources for pollinators and birds
💧improved water retention
💪🏼and greater resilience

A huge thank you to Adyen for supporting another season of restoration projects across Europe with us. Long-term partnerships like this are what make real landscape restoration possible, supporting local farmers while helping build healthier and more biodiverse landscapes.

We DO care deeply about trees. Which is exactly why we DON'T PLANT most of them in summer. 🌱☀️

There are plenty of reasons why foresters, ecologists, and restoration projects avoid planting during the hottest months and why timing matters far more than most people think.

A small dive into the logic behind?

With Life Terra’s tree adoption program, you can adopt a real tree, track its exact location on our online platform, and watch it grow, without getting your hands dirty (unless you want to).

Perfect for anyone who wants to make a real impact from home.

🌿 Back to the Roots, one more time.

Earlier this month, we gathered at the beautiful Mariënwaerdt Estate in the Netherlands to celebrate five years of Life Terra together with partners, supporters, clients, ambassadors, and friends of the project.

And honestly, one post was not enough to capture it all.

From planting a rare 16th-century apple tree to workshops, conversations, music, photography, foraging, and moments shared outdoors, the day was full of the kind of connections that remind us climate action is still, at its core, about people coming together in real life.

Here are a few more highlights from this special day. 🌱

Trees work for livestock farms in every season. Summer heat and winter cold can hurt animal health and pasture quality. Trees help regulate both. Animals stay cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and pastures hold up better. That means less stress, stronger herds, healthier land and improved productivity.

👇 Do you agree on using trees as part of your grazing strategy?

As one of the first events under their new TerraX environmental sustainability programme, Prosus joined us in late March at Landgoed Rorik in Beverwijk alongside their portfolio companies, OLX and Just Eat Takeaway. Together, they turned their environmental commitments into tangible action. Reaching a milestone of 1,000 trees planted was incredible, but the best part was seeing everyone working side-by-side, laughing through the weather chaos, and building a natural legacy that will be here long after we're gone.🌳

The team arrived brimming with energy and commitment, and quickly set to work at two different locations on the site, undeterred by the Dutch spring weather, which threw every element in its armory at us: from sunshine, wind and snow, to hail, rain and sleet!

One group's mission was to plant a biodiverse, goat-proof hedge around the perimeter of an apple orchard. Once grown, the hedge will perform multiple functions by boosting biodiversity and protecting the apple trees from wind, while also providing a nibble-resistant barrier (the inside of the hedge is composed of spiky plants) to contain goats and sheep. These animals will in turn be used as Landgoed Rorik's sustainable lawn mowers to keep the grass manageable, fertilising the land as they go - win, win! 💚

The second group rolled up their sleeves in an espalier orchard, planting native Dutch apple trees in rows and carefully attaching them to wires to keep them strong against the wind and make harvesting easier. These trees are used by the estate to make organic apple juice and cider, which are then sold to help sustain the estate's regenerative farming practices.

By the end of the day, everyone had rosy cheeks and a great sense of achievement. The day was rounded off in the estate's glasshouse restaurant, munching on food made from the Landgoed Rorik's produce, washed down by cider and apple juice.

"Hi, I’m Liese 👋

I recently started working at as a reforestation project manager.

I’ve spent the last few years exploring the relationship between people and nature, and how the two can actually support each other instead of constantly clashing.

I’m originally from the Netherlands and grew up on an arable farm, which shaped how I see land and work with it.

Before moving into this field, I also worked in healthcare. It taught me to ask the human questions, sometimes the uncomfortable ones, and to look for solutions that feel fair and realistic.

What I bring into my work is a mix of listening, connecting, curiosity, and a willingness to keep learning. Because most of the time, there isn’t a clean or simple answer.

My personal mission is to contribute to finding solutions to the global nature crisis that work for both human and nonhuman life.

Happy to be part of this "
