The Interim chairman of GBYU-Egypt Mr. Kuc Majok Kuc had an honour to attend the cultural day and Independence Day 14th anniversary celebration organised by the Yirol Students Association in Egypt under the leadership of chairman Petero Mabor Kot.

During the event Mr. Majok interacted with various students, youths and community leaders across Greater Bahr El Ghazal region and beyond, in his remarks he stressed the essence to boost our diverse cultures as South Sudanese which reflects our identity, enhances the spirits of belonging and brotherhood among ourselves both back home in South Sudan, Egypt and Diaspora.

Mr. Chairman also acknowledged and paid tribute to the great sacrifices our forefathers had rendered which yielded our Independence and led to the birth of South Sudan as a country with its sovereignty, he further urges the youths to build on the legacy of our liberators and carry on the good deeds for the better South Sudan 🇸🇸.

On 11/July/2025, during the fundraising and cultural event organized by the Jonglei Students’ Union in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Interim-Chairman of Greater Bahr El Ghazal Youth Union in Egypt Mr. Kuc Majok Kuc delivered a thoughtful and inspiring speech that touched on the youth capacity building, and co-existence among South Sudanese community as a whole, he initially acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the Jonglei Students’ Union under the chairmanship of the Statistician Cde. John Manyok Dau and his able Secretary General Dr. Cde. Peter Thiei not forgetting the tremendous work of the organizing committee as well as the active participation of students, Mr. Majok further extended his appreciation especially to the people of Jonglei State and fellow South Sudanese from other regions, whose support and solidarity made the event a true success.

Moreover, the Chairman took the opportunity to address the youth directly, stressing the vital role they play in shaping the future of South Sudan, by encouraging the young people to equip themselves with the necessary skills, both academic and practical, that will enable them to become effective leaders and contributors in their communities, additionally, he urged them to foster social bonds and unity among themselves, regardless of their backgrounds, as a mean of building a strong and cohesive society, Mr. Chairman reminded them that the progress of South Sudan depends heavily on the youth’s readiness to take responsibility and lead with knowledge.

Last but not least, he urged the graduates especially in Egypt to return home after completing their studies as the knowledge, experiences, and qualifications they gain abroad are urgently needed in South Sudan to address many challenges the country faces.

Finally, Mr. Chairman reiterated the Union’s continuous commitment to promoting education, unity, and cultural heritage among South Sudanese students in Egypt.

Celebrating Independence Day: A Message from the Greater Bahr el Ghazal Youth Union – Egypt

July 9th, 2025

On this proud and historic day, the Greater Bahr el Ghazal Youth Union in the Arab Republic of Egypt joins South Sudanese citizens across the globe in commemorating the 14th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of South Sudan.

This day stands as a powerful reminder of our people’s unwavering spirit, resilience, and determination. On July 9th, 2011, we reclaimed our identity and earned the right to determine our own future. Independence was not handed to us it was fought for through decades of sacrifice, unity, and courage.

Today, we do not just celebrate the raising of a flag we celebrate the soul of a nation. We remember the heroes and heroines who gave their lives so that we may live in freedom. Their legacy continues to inspire us to dream bigger, to act with integrity, and to build a South Sudan rooted in peace, justice, and shared prosperity.

As the youth of Greater Bahr el Ghazal, we recognize our vital role in shaping the next chapter of our nation’s history. We commit ourselves to the values of unity, service, and progress, and we call on all young people to stand as ambassadors of peace and hope, both at home and abroad.

Let this day renew our collective strength. Let it remind us that despite our challenges, we remain one people, bound by one destiny, and driven by one dream a strong, united, and prosperous South Sudan.

The interim-leadership for Greater Bahr el Ghazal Youth Union-Egypt (GBYU-E)

On the 5th of July, the Steering Committee of the Greater Bahr el Ghazal Youth Union-Egypt convened an introductory meeting with the Constitutional Drafting Committee, the meeting took place under the able leadership of the Interim-Chairman Kuc Majok Kuc, Secretary General Tengteng Aguek Tengteng and Information Secretary of the steering Committee for Greater Bahr El Ghazal Youth Union-Egypt, Hope Nelson Candido alongside the Constitution Drafting committee members headed by Mr. George Adhel Goi

The agenda of the meeting were mainly as follows:

1. Introduction and briefing about the procedures of the constitutional drafting process.

2. ⁠Discussing the challenges and financial requirements necessary for the completion of the constitution drafting.

3. Setting a clear time frame for the delivery of the first constitutional draft.

Mr. Chairman Kuc majok had a chance to officially open the meeting and briefly elaborated more about the agendas of the meeting, as the meeting continued Mr. George, the head of the drafting team, presented a preliminary ways of how to work together as a team to accomplish the task entrusted on them, he further emphasized the importance of the committment as well as upholding chain of communication channels to ease the teamwork and cooperation among the committee members and the Interim-body, in addition to that the rapporteur of the committee Mr. Albino Mangor Angui also pledged their full commitment to make sure the best is achieved in the main time frame.

Moreover, the Interim-Chairman Mr. Majok commended the drafting team for their dedication and urged for continued cooperation to accomplish laying the appropriate general regulations for our great Unnion, not only that the Secretary General also emphasized the need for discipline and timely ex*****on of tasks.

In Nutshell

The meeting was symbolised by mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared vision towards establishing a prime and inclusive constitution for the Greater Bahr el Ghazal Youth Union in Egypt, the Steering Committee leadership through Information Secretary remain committed to ensuring transparency and effectively communicate to you throughout this process.

The Union looks forward to the successful completion of this crucial task, which will mark a significant milestone in the organization’s structure and governance.
