The Pi Alpha Alpha (PAA) is the Global Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. As of 2012, PAA has 162 chapters at NASPAA member schools.

PAA recognizes outstanding students in public administration, public policy, and public affairs.

The annual Pi Alpha Alpha Symposium will be renamed the Dr. Laila El Baradei PAA Symposium.

We would like to extend our thanks to the International Steering Committee of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society, especially its President, Professor Richard Greggory Johnson III, for this recognition.

Congratulations to our faculty advisor Dr. Shahjahan Bhuiyan, PPAD Professor, Interim Chair, for being elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), becoming the first scholar from any academic institution in the Middle East and Africa to receive this honor.

He will be officially inducted during the NAPA Conference in Washington, DC, this November.

Last month we participated at the Department of Public Policy and Administration networking event at the American University in Cairo.

We are grateful for all the support we have received so far for the milk drive benefiting the Egyptian Food Bank. This campaign was launched last year by our dear Dr. Laila El Baradei. Schools close over the summer, but nurseries certainly do not! Let us ensure that these children continue to receive milk at their nursery in Warraq El Arab.

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of the kind and graceful professor and mother, Dr. Laila El Baradei.

The funeral prayer will be held tomorrow, Saturday, after Dhuhr prayer at Al-Mogamaa Al-Islami Mosque, Sheikh Zayed, followed by burial at El Baradei Family Cemetery.

May Allah have mercy on her soul, forgive her, and grant her eternal peace in His vast gardens. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

بقلوب يملؤها الحزن والأسى، ننعي وفاة الحنونة جميلة القلب الدكتورة ليلى البرادعي.

ستُقام صلاة الجنازة غدًا السبت عقب صلاة الظهر في مسجد المجمع الإسلامي بالشيخ زايد، و الدفن في مدافن عائلة البرادعي.

نسأل الله أن يتغمدها بواسع رحمته، ويجعل مثواها الجنة، وأن يلهم أهلها ومحبيها الصبر والسلوان.

غفر الله لها، وأسكنها فسيح جناته، وعفا عنها.
