In implementation of the directives of His Eminence Professor Dr. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Zakat and Charities Fund continues its intensive efforts throughout the blessed month of Ramadan. With the close of the first week, the Fund completed the distribution of nearly 70,000 complete iftar meals to worshippers at Al-Azhar Mosque, within the framework of the “Iftar for the Fasting” initiative.
The initiative falls within the Fund’s humanitarian and solidarity-driven mandate, as the developmental arm of Al-Azhar, and its commitment to supporting those who fast and easing their burdens during the holy month, particularly international students from across the world, Egyptian students studying away from home who have come to Cairo in pursuit of knowledge, as well as travelers and regular worshippers at Al-Azhar Mosque.
Under the guidance and direct follow-up of Dr. Sahar Nasr, Advisor to the Grand Imam and Secretary-General of Zakat and Charities Fund, daily on-site supervision is maintained to ensure the highest standards of organization and quality in the preparation and distribution of meals, guaranteeing that support reaches its rightful recipients in a manner befitting the stature of Al-Azhar Mosque and its visitors.
Zakat and Charities Fund distributes approximately 10,000 complete meals each day, prepared in accordance with rigorous quality standards, in an atmosphere marked by order, discipline, and the spirit of fraternity embodied by the blessed month of Ramadan.
Several worshippers at Al-Azhar Mosque, international students, Egyptian students studying away from home, and travelers, expressed their sincere gratitude to His Eminence the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and to Zakat and Charities Fund under his patronage and the guidance of Dr. Sahar Nasr, in appreciation of the organization of the “Iftar for the Fasting” initiative. The scene reflects the universal reach of Al-Azhar’s message, as students from more than 120 countries gather around one table rich with love and faith. Zakat and Charities Fund affirms that what has been achieved during the first week of the blessed month stands as a living enactment of Al-Azhar’s ethic of mercy and solidarity. The initiative will continue until the end of Ramadan, within a comprehensive developmental vision that seeks a durable impact, moving beyond immediate relief toward the slow, necessary work of binding society together. The Fund renews its call to benevolent people to place their trust in its programs, as a safe and trusted channel for zakat and charitable giving, because organized generosity is how societies steady themselves and endure.
