Apply with a composition or sound piece to participate in the 2026 Young Nordic Composers festival in Denmark.

Young Estonian composers and sound artists up to 31 years are warmly invited to apply. Two composers will be selected tor represent Estonia. The previous winners include Gregor Kulla, Merilyn Jaeski, Krรตรตt-Kรคrt Kaev and Sille Kima.

OPEN CALL FOR YOUNG ESTONIAN COMPOSERS:

UNM Residency 2026 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
For the 2026 UNM festival, we are very excited to announce a residency collaboration with the ensemble NEKO3.

NEKO3 is a Copenhagen-based experimental trio consisting of pianist/performer Fei Nie and two percussionists/performers Lorenzo Colombo and Kalle Hakosalo. More info: https://www.neko3cph.com/events/

We are thrilled to announce the composers selected to represent Estonia at the next young nordic composers festival UNM 2025 edition, taking place in Helsinki, Finland.

Congratulations!

Meet Merilyn Jaeski:
Merilyn Jaeski's musical education began with piano lessons at the age of four in Belgium. After returning to Estonia, she continued her piano studies at the music school of Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium with Ingrid Vooglaid. She graduated in 2018.

From 2010 to 2012 she lived in the Netherlands and acquired her education at Afnorth International School. During that time, she received her musical training under the guidance of a private teacher, Ina Jager.

Merilyn Jaeski graduated the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with a degree in musicology in 2021. From 2019 to 2022 she studied composition at Georg Ots Tallinn Music College with Tatjana Kozlova-Johannes.Now, Jaeski continues her composition studies in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre under the guidance of Helena Tulve.

The work selected for Ung Nordisk Musik 2025 is titled โ€œA Thousand Lights Awayโ€, and it was composed under the guidance of Helena Tulve, with advice from Margo Kรตlar and Hans-Gunter Lock.
