Pups and Paradise testimonial!
We spent a week at Pups and Paradise recently, and I can honestly say that it is one of my favorite family trips so far. We came back well rested and with full hearts. What an amazing and rewarding experience.
The house is spacious and comfortably furnished with a very well-equipped kitchen. The backyard is fenced off from the rest of the property. If you want to sit and enjoy a morning coffee or evening cocktail in a quiet space, this is the perfect place to do that. Walk out the front door and enjoy all the puppy love you could ever need. After a day at the beach or out on an excursion/exploring, we would come back to the house and head to the pool to cool off where there was never a lack of entertainment. Watching the pups play and run around in this sanctuary was a great way to end the day. The puppy cuddles and love were a bonus.
The house is located just far enough away from town and beaches that it felt like we were staying at a retreat, but everything was close enough that it was not an inconvenience... just a 20-minute walk or 5-minute taxi/golf cart ride to town. If you want to stay in for the evening and order pizza or need a few grocery items or water, delivery is quick and inexpensive. We went out to eat every evening and found that Bayahibe had a great variety of restaurants. We were never disappointed with the food, and the bill was also a pleasant surprise... very affordable. Jackson and Peterson, who are there to look after the property and dogs, were great and always available if we needed anything at all, including a ride to town or back.
The thing that really made this trip unique and rewarding was the amazing opportunity to interact and spend time with the dogs on the property, helping to walk, feed, bathe, and socialize with them. Ingrid, who runs a rescue nearby, was a great resource. She is very knowledgeable about the area, dogs, and culture. We spent a day with her, cleaning the shelter, and helping her with some daily duties. While there, we had a special guest come and stay with us whom we instantly fell in love with. Poor Grace was found starving and close to death. Having her come and stay at the house with us and being a part of nursing her back to health was such a privilege. On the last day there, we asked our girls (17 and 19 years old), of all of our trips, how did this one compare? There was no hesitation... they wanted to come back to Pups and Paradise. Chris and I agree. Thank you, Colin and Belinda, for allowing us to stay in your home and take part in such an impactful and rewarding experience.
