A W A K E S . By Earth, Science and I declare Climate Emergency
Meet Methane. And learn about the G A P and the connections to war.
This is a short story of actions immediately needed the reasons being
O B V I O U S even to blind men with no brains. ( ! )
We must pull the emergency brake. At once - and we can.
We have - amongst others; an El Nino on the edge to perform a rather deadly scenario, because it evolves on a global base warmer in average; as ever measured before in the history of man: around 1. 4 - 1. 5 A N D up til over 3 degrees in certain areas.
Methane is T H E most explosive greenhouse gas of all.
The graphs show globally-averaged, monthly mean atmospheric methane abundance determined from marine surface sites.
The first graph shows monthly means for the last four years plus the current year, and the second graph shows the full NOAA time-series starting in 1983.
But W H Y are these numbers - as important as co2?
In short; because we as humans - are responsinle for 6 0 percent of the growth.
A N D - because emissions; results in futher emissions to speak very plain. Futher emissions we can N O T controle; from sources such as ice, woodlands and wildfires; making this steady rise clearly shown below; a K E Y component for action. N O W !
CO4 unfolds even faster than co2 - B U T : when reduced; - with a "lifespan" in the Atmosphere as " short " as 2 0 years; are also able to be edited rather quickly. I hope you begin to see my point. So;
Methane acts as an "emergency brake" for global heating. It is a highly potent gas, about 80 times more warming power than CO₂, and is responsible for roughly O N E / T H I R D of current planetary warming. Additionally, in high ambient concentrations (5% to 15% by volume), it becomes explosive when ignited ...
Meaning; reducing methane emissions can be used, as an emergency brake for addressing climate change.
Human activities are responsible for approximately 60% of global methane emissions.
The primary anthropogenic sources we can act on, united and rather fast; I F the political global will awakes are;
The agriculture (livestock burps and manure),
The fossil fuel industry (intentional and accidental leaks during extraction and transport), and
decomposing waste in landfills.
The challange is here, as in allmost all climate related issues; esecially W H E N it comes to the military; the G A P in reporting.
Countries seeks either to hide, or are U N A W A R E of the leeks of oil fields, B O M B S them with intent; or- and :
J U S T do not care.
We do. And this brake is rather easy to pull. Change diet. S T O P fossils - and begin to grow natural sinks, so desperately needed.
Because unted scientists both worry and warns;
of dangerous feedback loops, where global warming triggers large stores of methane to be released from underneath melting ice sheets, - R E D U C I N G emissions is becoming increasingly urgent, why we here agin have poved beyond any doubt; that W A R S by no means, can or may be abused; as a "tool of securety".
I have tried to stay calm while writing this peace ( ! ) - and have forced my self not to write about the consequences; for life.
They are rather easy to imagine - if one dares to prolong the X and Y axes only a tiny little bit; the conseqences for life:
are deadly.
