" Hoping for a "new normal" climate is pointless. We must learn to adapt, " is as valid as the article indeed. Y E T alarmingly narrowed in its vision.
Here is W H Y our headline is different; the article does not represent the whole truth. ( Then again: whom amongst us are able to present that? No one. A I for sure N O T ! )
To sum up, the article are aligned with all points we have made here: we must be able to adapt to different new abnormalities instead of clinging to strategies, based on science from the past. That should be obvious.
But then we must cry out. " It's a mistake to focus either on reducing emissions or adapting to a warming world—we need both. Adaptation will be easier if we limit future warming. "
True - B U T !
Its true that especially humans are adaptable to different temperatures and climates; Y E T ; our bodies have a limit, that already was crossed this year for around 3 2 0 0 0 people.
That is, in Europe alone - during 6 weeks.
Other studies have shown how our physics collapses - in different ways and hastes; when it comes to heat. The rate and speed differs according to the duration of heat - the exact temperatures involved and the moist. This is N O T either an issue in this article: that vast areas and most of some continents, might become almost unsurvivable for at least the poorest.
Populations have different acces to air con; and they do involve feed back loops, W A T E R that are already a limited resource and often; polluted. And food; - which leads us directly to another study, and process:
We know that our fellow species might adopt to some point; yet - evolution take millions of years, and our climate are now changing at an increasing rate. Already now, and here we are aligned with the article; I suggest we leave the 3 0 year averages as "normalities" when it comes to defining " weather".

This study shows that already at 2. 5 degrees c, above the 1 8 5 0 baseline; 3 0 percent of A L L species wil go extinct.
At 2 degrees coral reefs, are defined to completely vanich, give or take 1 percent or 3 lucky variations.
Which only highlight one of our points on Earth, Science and I declare Climate Emergency :
you can not adapt to extinction.
Corals are importent creatures on their own; and also species we depend on. as all other species U N I Q U E and amongst them many, that

us combat carbon emissions,- the great blue whale, or - and - are essential for other beings, - krills, being essential for yet other beings... and so on. Bees... fruits, birds ...
Which leads us directly to one, - out of many " solutions" -
B U T aware that climate often evolves in jumps, and that this years El Nino might be T H E trigger point of such a majority of feed back loops, that all further discussions are totally pointless.
This is just one of many "minor" solutions" with H U G E effects, yet pointless when G E O P O L I T I C S only F U E L L S further emissions and death.
I F one goes for organic farming primarily of plants; ( there by locking carbon and using land to feed people and nature it self, not mistreated livestock ) one could I N C R E A S E the harvest to as much as 8 0 percent!
Then try to add permaculture, improving both harvest, varieties of foods and plants, - a method that acts as a Gods gift to biodiversity, while saving water and provide shadow; that means cooling.
That might be a method of adapation .. to some degree, but then again we face the problem above them all;
The rise in temperatures, caused by our S T I L L rising deadly emissions of G H G.
Already now 1 1 vital vegetables; potatoes, tomatoes, wheat, cabbage, soy ...are threatened by climate change.
Rice feeding billions every day; are set to be reduced by as much as 5 0 % at 2 0 5 0. I F we continue this path towards extinction.
That is Overwiev, needed in all readings. And while listening to all politicians for sure! To be able to combine and remember different studies and try to cut through S S . ( System S**t)
Based on that; our quite hopefull and hopeless points finally arrives here:
W E can not adapt to extinction.
Our fellow species do not evolve as fast as we might tecno fix survival for a limited few rich people.
B U T ; we have so many tools U N U S E D to limit the speed af run away climate scenarios, that the pesticide example; are only one out of billions. We C O U L D do so f # # # much.
Without Wars and " leaders".
W E are fu**ed by those each and every day!
Only a few weeks after the study of Pesticides and increased harvests; E U accepted to continue the use of them, and - the more our climate changes , - as with feritiizers, the more is needed of that pollutive s**t; to get the same outcome. Lobbyism here, as in weapons, oil or meat; in fact have far more people than there are delegates in the Parliament, and almost unlimited budgets.
And we just saw Trump and the deadly diesel deal unfold. And here we could go on for pages if we would just try to summarise some of the climate genocidal deeds of that man in one month alone. Which would lead us into endless pointless pains of screaming. Because even though he stands out; he is N O T alone!
So the O N E and F I N A L conclusion is - and allways have been;
exchange leaders and
R E B E L for S U R V I V A L.
