🕒 14:30–16:00 CEST (15:30–17:00 GMT+3)
đź’» Online via Zoom

Produced under the impunity project led by EuroMed Rights, İnsan Hakları Derneği - Human Rights Association and İnsan Hakları Ortak Platformu - İHOP, this report examines State obligations arising from the right to life through the lens of European Court of Human Rights and Constitutional Court case-law, focusing on the duty to conduct effective investigations into suspicious deaths.

Ten monitored cases from involving unnatural deaths are assessed against the full range of State obligations, revealing patterns of failure and accountability gaps.

The webinar will bring together experts from TĂĽrkiye to present the findings and open a broader discussion on the protection of the right to life in the country.

At any time, 7 Palestinian families risk losing their homes in Batn Al-Hawa, East Jerusalem—adding to tens of households who have already lost their homes this year, like Dr. Ra’ed Basbous, evicted with his family on the first day of Eid in March.

As the eviction case against Dr. Basbous started in 2015, his kids have lived through it their entire young lives: “[...]my youngest son was two years old [...]. From the age of two he has lived with the army, police, settlers, arrests – all of it.” “We adults are affected by this even when we try not to show it, so how can you imagine what it does to children?”

Alongside several MEPs, we call on Kaja Kallas and Kajsa Ollongren to urge Israeli authorities to stop forced evictions and provide remedy to those already displaced: https://euromedrights.org/publication/urgent-call-for-eu-action-to-end-forced-evictions-and-home-demolitions-in-east-jerusalem/

On , we remember the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Seventy-eight years ago, more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced & over 600 villages destroyed.

That catastrophe did not end in 1948. Displacement, siege, and mass killing continue to define Palestinian life. The international community's persistent failure to enforce its own legal standards has allowed impunity to become the norm.

States must uphold their obligations under international humanitarian & human rights law.
