European Handball Players Union - EHPU The European Handball Players Union (EHPU) is the institute body representing the professional handball players in Europe. EHPU was founded in 2008. [email protected]

The European Handball Players Union is the institute body representing the professional handball players in Europe. EHPU was founded in 2008 during the European Championship in Norway. Today, it represents more than 1350 male and female professional handball players from 4 different continents. EHPU is composed of the 7 national unions of Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Spain and Sweden. EHPU is perceived by EHF as the representative body of the professional players in Europe - two voices of the Professional Handball Board (PHB) are given to EHPU. The purposes of EHPU are to get the players voice being heard in the institutional handball world, we want to bring information from the pitch to the governance body and from the governance body to the locker room. EHPU is also trying to help the development of new national unions, in order to represent all professional handball players.

This weekend in Cologne, the European Handball Players Union signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the EHF – marking an important step in strengthening the collaboration between players and European handball’s governing bodies.

With representation in both the Women’s Handball Board and Professional Handball Board, the players’ perspective will continue to be part of the conversations shaping the future of our sport.

Together with the EHF and the wider handball community, we look forward to contributing to topics that matter across the game – from player welfare and workload to sustainable development and strong conditions for the next generation.

EHPU also continues to support the development of new national unions, with the goal of ensuring that every professional player in Europe is represented by a strong, collective voice.

Professional handball players can now join EHPU for an annual fee of just 50 euros. As a member, you gain access to support, guidance, and a stronger collective voice in the European handball landscape. Together, we work to improve player rights, welfare, and representation both on and off the court.
