If you have a bit of spare change left in your pocket after all the Christmas shopping that you want to donate, Togo Esomé is currently in Togo and would love to bring some joy to the inmates in Vogan with a little rice and oil for Christmas. Nothing is too small.

🌍 Good news: We’re finally going back to Togo! 🇹🇬

We are collecting donations of electronics — smartphones, printers, tablets and laptops — as well as bicycles and sewing machines in good working condition.

We are fortunate to have secured space in a shipping container going to Lomé in December.

All these items, which you want to give a new life to, will be distributed to teenagers in Ganavé who struggle to attend school due to lack of public transport (and because “taxis” are very expensive). They will greatly benefit from digital tools to support their education.

The sewing machines will be given to wives and partners of inmates in the prison in Vogan, who participate in our rehabilitation project Togo Esomé. This will allow them to earn a small income by sewing products from the beautiful kente fabric woven as part of the project.

Jay Jay is the first prisoner to successfully complete our three-year Kente weaving program at Vogan Prison. Since his release, we’ve been privileged to have him return as a mentor, teaching the inmates three days a week. Jay Jay’s dedication and craftsmanship have made him a great role model within the prison and the local community.

Jay Jay er den første fange, der med succes har gennemført vores treårige Kente-væveprogram i Vogan-fængsel. Siden sin løsladelse har vi været privilegerede at have ham tilbage som mentor, hvor han underviser de indsatte tre dage om ugen. Jay Jays dedikation og håndværksmæssige dygtighed har gjort ham til en rollemodel både i fængslet og i lokalsamfundet.
