We are an interdisciplinary and multi-cultural, non-profit network of scientists from academic and research institutions, NGOs, government, and international agencies. We are committed to providing solutions to problems related to sustainable livelihoods and biodiversity conservation at all levels, from genes, to species and ecosystems. n our work. BACKGROUND
The rapid loss of biodiversity is a major concern worldwide. Harmonising biodiversity conservation and sustainable exploitation of natural resource is a challenge for policy makers, communities, Non-govermental Organisations (NGOs) and scientists due to the wide gaps in the science-policy interface. These gaps are often characterised by lack of effective communication of scientific results among the key stakeholders as well as lack of access to credible information regarding existing threats to biodiversity. We provide credible science-based information by offering advisory/consultancy services and by sharing information available from our network of experts (through videos, newsletters, reports, papers, publication, etc.). Therefore, SiABioS offers a platform for interdisciplinary networking among scientists with a common goal of providing expert advise to the critical stakeholders involved in harmonising human needs and nature.
