Moving to a new city as an international woman can feel overwhelming, but finding your circle makes all the difference. Last week, our club traded our usual routines for dirndls, pretzels, and festive cheer at our annual Oktoberfest gathering!

Our Batik Day celebration was an absolute joy. From gorgeous kebaya styles and intricate wraps proudly modeled by our very own members, to admiring piles of rich textiles and sharing a wonderful Indonesian lunch together, it was an afternoon truly filled with culture and connection.

We believe every gathering is an opportunity to honor global traditions, celebrate each other, and make wonderful friends along the way. This is what “Where friendship meets culture” is all about!

October is off to an incredible start, and we are already living out our vision: “Where friendship meets culture and lifelong learning.” 🍂✨
We kicked off the month with a truly special Thai cultural afternoon. One of our very own members—a certified Thai art museum guide—hosted a captivating exposition for us. She took us on a journey through Thailand, shared fascinating cultural beliefs and traditions, and even gave us insider travel tips for visiting! 🎨✈️
To make the experience even richer, some of our members brought delicious, authentic home-cooked Thai dishes for everyone to sample! 🍛🥢

There is a rare kind of magic in watching something built to last generations.
During our private visit to the Steinway & Sons production facility in Hamburg, we experienced firsthand the quiet, deliberate mastery that goes into creating the world’s finest grand pianos.

From raw timber aged in the open air for up to two full years to soundboards hand-fitted down to fractions of a millimeter, every stage of production honors a legacy of uncompromised standards. Seeing veteran artisans execute techniques refined over more than a century left everyone in our group deeply inspired by the art of intentional craft.

Sharing moments like this alongside a warm, vibrant room of international women made the morning even more special.

For our latest Monthly Meeting, we headed out to Museumsdorf Volksdorf to learn a bit of local history and enjoy the open air. From historic half-timbered houses to beautiful surroundings, it was the perfect day in great company and conversations... 🌾
..plus a delicious lunch nearby to round it all off! 🍽️

Highlight of the day? Acquiring an uninvited tour guide 🦃 A very persistent local turkey decided to tag along and follow our group around the whole grounds—pretty sure he was just eyeing our lunch plans!

🪓 IWC Ladies’ Evening Escapades — but make it fierce! 😉
Who needs a quiet spa evening when you can hurl an axe at a target and call it self-care? 😎🪓
Our ladies swapped standard evening plans for a whole new kind of adventure — releasing stress, discovering hidden Viking talents, and (thankfully!) keeping all fingers intact. 🙏💅🙌
Between endless laughter and friendly competition, everyone had a shot at becoming Queen of the Axe 👑. Some of us hit the bullseye. Some hit... the general wall area. 🤭 There may or may not have been a few shouts of “WHO THREW THAT?!” 🫣
Turns out, stress relief hits different when hatchets are involved. 🪓🔥

Transporting Bangkok straight to Hamburg! 🇹🇭✨
Yesterday, our kitchen became a tropical paradise filled with the vibrant aromas and bold flavours of Thailand. While we couldn’t quite match the 33°C Bangkok sunshine 😎, our international community brought the authentic tastes of Southeast Asia to life right here in Hamburg.
We explored the irresistible balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy with an incredible menu:
🌿 Fresh & tangy green mango salad
🍢 Fragrant chicken satay
🍛 Aromatic Thai basil beef & creamy red chicken curry
🥭 Mango sticky rice
🧋 Refreshing lemongrass, ginger & pandan iced tea
Filled with new flavours, laughter, and wonderful company, it was a morning well spent. A huge thank you to all the wonderful women who joined us and made it so special! ❤️
