What is Permaculture?

Nature works perfectly and creates life and prosperity, we have to observe nature more and remind ourselves that we are part of it.

This picture is from a Garden I made few years ago and after the first year Lettuces, rocket salad and other plants just appeared spontaneously in the garden 🌱😊

Making Compost: Dry Toilet Construction

Dreams of a museum
 
At the beginning of the year when I visited my family in Chile, I made a workshop about Dragon Dreaming in the Valparaiso Natural History Museum with the dream of recovering a space and transformed it into a garden and a biodiversity exposition for environmental education in the museum. We had a great time full of dreams and connection with people from all departments from the museum and they could share their ideas of how to transform this space.

Now few months later the dream is coming true with the help of students from Arquitecture and Environmental Engieneering from Valparaiso University (my University too). The students from the faculty of Arquitecture develop several designed for the space base on the dreams of the museum workers. Now people can vote and decide which will be the the real design that will take place on the museum.

We are really happy to had been part of this process and help to share the dreams of everybody who is going to enjoy this (for sure) beautiful garden!

Humus

The real gold in earth 😊🌱🙏🏾

Definition
Decomposed, dark brown and amorphous organic matter of soils, having lost all trace of the structure and composition of the vegetable and animal matter from which it was derived. Humus hence refers to any organic matter that has reached a point of stability and which is used in agriculture to amend soil.

In organic agriculture, the concept of soil fertility is centered on building soil humus with an emphasis on a living bridge between soil life, such as mycorrhizae and bacteria, and how this chain of life from the soil supported the health of crops, livestock and mankind.

Roots

Just like the plants and trees we have roots, from where we get all our energy to keep going 🌱🌳☀️🌧

I don’t share much of my personal life here but the sand and the waves of the Pacific Ocean are part of my roots and I was missing them a lot as well as the forest and rivers from the Andes to Patagonia where I spent most of my summers. Thanks home for giving me more energy to keep growing and share it with everyone 🌱🌎☀️😊🙌🏾

Hydro-Cube

Hydroponics is a type of horticulture in which plants are grown in or with water instead of soil and, through the water, nutrients are incorporated into the system.

The Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) is one of the different techniques in hydroponics, in which water runs through pipes in a thin layer distributing the nutrients necessary for plants to grow. The plants are placed at the top of the pipe where the roots hang down until they touch the water at the bottom and by capillarity the water and nutrients enter the plants.

The Cube from is a space designed to work, meet, eat and much more, and in this model P3-Werkstatt has incorporated NFT system for growing strawberries.

The NFT hydroponic system goes around "The Cube" from top to bottom circulating water from a tank located next right to the cube, with strawberries placed in each section to absorb the nutrients flowing through the system.
