A day of exchange at Cologne Police Headquarters 🇨🇴🇨🇱🇩🇪

During their leadership training in Gimborn, our joint delegation from Colombia and Chile visited the largest police authority in North Rhine-Westphalia. Polizei NRW Köln

Following a welcome by the Police President, the participants gained insights into the work of Cologne Police Headquarters and continued their discussions outside the seminar room.

What made the visit especially meaningful was the opportunity to connect officers from both Latin American countries. Building a strong professional network was one of the programme’s key aims—and the open, engaged exchange showed just how successfully this was achieved.

“This is an important trilateral project, founded on successful cooperation across several fields. The quality of the exchange between the Colombian and Chilean officers shows how valuable it is to create opportunities for joint learning and lasting professional connections,” said our COO, Stefan Schwarz.

A valuable visit—and potentially an important milestone for the project’s future. Thank you to Cologne Police Headquarters and the Police President for the warm welcome! 👏

🇲🇩 Happy Independence Day, Moldova!

Today, the Republic of Moldova celebrates 35 years of independence – a milestone commemorating the declaration of independence on 27 August 1991.

Under this year’s theme, “Independența care ne unește. Moldova-35” – “The independence that unites us”, people across Moldova are coming together to celebrate their country, its history and its future.

In Chișinău, the day will be marked by official commemorations, including the laying of flowers at important memorials, a ceremonial event bringing together Moldova’s state institutions, a parade of military orchestras on the Great National Assembly Square, and cultural and public celebrations in the heart of the capital. 🎶🇲🇩

The anniversary is also part of a wider programme of cultural, educational and commemorative events celebrating Moldova’s heritage, democratic values and social cohesion.
On this special day, the GS-Foundation warmly congratulates the people of Moldova and wishes the country peace, prosperity and a bright future.

Happy 35th Independence Day!
La mulți ani, Republica Moldova! 🇲🇩

🇺🇦 Three weeks filled with special encounters, shared experiences and carefree moments 💙💛

35 children from Ukrainian police families, accompanied by their mothers or grandmothers, spent three weeks at a summer camp in Selm/Bork, Germany. Organised by the International Police Association (), the programme offered the families a wide range of activities and excursions.

The GS-Foundation joined them on four days. 🌳 Together, we planted a tree in the IPA Friendship Forest, got creative during an arts and crafts day and accompanied the families on their final trip to Münster. There were also small gifts and, most importantly, plenty of memorable moments together. 🎨🎁

Throughout the three weeks, the children had lots more to discover – from visiting the North Rhine-Westphalia police dog unit and Cologne Cathedral to trips to Aquazoo Düsseldorf, Movie Park Germany and local swimming pools.

The opening ceremony was particularly moving. We also remembered Stefan Feller, former COO of the GS-Foundation, who dedicated himself to supporting children from crisis and conflict regions during his lifetime.

Three weeks cannot change the reality of war. But they can create moments in which children can simply be children. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make these special three weeks possible!

🚦 Road safety, prevention and trust-building in Chișinău 🇲🇩

Last Saturday, representatives of ACM and the Moldovan police came together in Chișinău for a joint activity focusing on prevention, road safety education and building trust between the police and the community. 🤝

The activity took place in Ștefan cel Mare Park and was embedded in a lively programme that included traditional dancing and a yard sale. It provided an opportunity to engage directly with the public and raise awareness of road safety in an accessible setting.

During the exchange in Chișinău, we also learned more about the wider cooperation between ACM and the police. ACM, Moldova’s counterpart to the ADAC, is an NGO that has a cooperation agreement with the GPI and supports various road safety, information and prevention activities. These include initiatives focusing on children and schools, cyclists and other vulnerable road users – such as the recent ‘Bicycle Friday’ in Ungheni. 🚲

The photos accompanying this post were also taken during the activity in Chișinău. 📸
INSP and the GS-Foundation work together within the framework of the Equalforce project. The exchange offered valuable insights into how cooperation with civil society can support prevention, road safety education and trust-building at community level.

Police Leaders from Colombia and Chile Come Together in Germany

This week, police leaders from Colombia and Chile have come together in Germany for a joint training programme as part of the Trilateral Police Project with Colombia and Chile.

From 17–21 August 2026, a delegation from the Policía Nacional de Colombia and a delegation from the Carabineros de Chile are taking part in a leadership training programme at IBZ Schloss Gimborn.

Designed for middle-management police leaders, the programme focuses on strengthening leadership skills and addressing the challenges and responsibilities that come with leading in modern policing.

Alongside training sessions at Schloss Gimborn, the programme includes visits to German police headquarters, including Cologne Police Headquarters, providing further opportunities for professional exchange and shared learning.

For the GS-Foundation, bringing police professionals together across borders is an important part of fostering dialogue, mutual learning and sustainable international cooperation. 🤝

Leadership for safer schools in Ukraine

At the end of July and beginning of August, the GS-Foundation delivered two leadership training courses for the senior management of the Educational Security Service (ESS) of the National Police of Ukraine as part of the Equalforce project.

Established in 2024, the ESS is responsible for ensuring safety and security in Ukrainian schools. Managers from oblasts across Ukraine came together for the training, which was specifically tailored to the needs and operational requirements of this newly established unit.

The programme focused on modern leadership methods, effective inter-agency cooperation, crisis management and psychological resilience. Alongside theoretical input, the exchange of practical experience played a central role: participants shared insights from their respective regions and discussed challenges from their day-to-day work with the trainers.

The aim is to strengthen management processes at oblast level, accelerate workflows and ultimately improve the work of the ESS at all levels.

The training was delivered by GS-Foundation trainers Frank Arnolds and Arno Langangke and accompanied by Police Major V. Protsiv, Deputy Head of the ESS, who provided specialist input throughout the programme.

🤝 Strengthening leadership capacities is an important contribution to enhancing safety and security in Ukrainian schools.
