The American Red Cross Spangdahlem AB provides coverage for Spangdahlem AB and Benelux. The American Red Cross serves and supports members of the military, veterans, and their families, providing needed comfort and care in military and veterans hospitals, support for military families with vital social services and by providing emergency communications to keep families connected when they need it

most. The Red Cross assists in person where ever it is needed – alongside the troops throughout the world, on stateside military installations or in local communities far from a base. SAF at the Red Cross is a mixture of both tradition and innovation. We continually adapt our traditional services and create new programs to meet the needs to today’s military member, veterans and their families. Our work is important to the nation because it is important to our troops and their families.

Local humanitarians make our impact possible. Yet they also bear the overwhelming brunt of violence and loss.

Global data from the Aid Worker Security Database, shows that in 2025, of the 332 humanitarians who were killed in violent incidents worldwide, 99 percent were local personnel.

This must stop. Humanitarians must be protected.

Welcome Back and Thank You for Answering the Call!

Please join us in welcoming back to the office our very own Service to Armed Forces Regional Program Specialist, Emily Craft currently stationed in Sigonella, Italy, following her successful virtual deployment in support of the response.
Serving as a Recovery Care Intake Caseworker, she provided critical support to individuals and families impacted by devastating wildfires across Washington State.

While deployed virtually, her commitment to the disaster mission was no less demanding. She dedicated her overnight hours to the operation, working 10-hour shifts to ensure those affected by the disaster received timely assistance and compassionate support when they needed it most.

Her willingness to step forward, adapt to challenging hours, and support disaster operations from across the globe demonstrates the dedication, flexibility, and humanitarian spirit that define the Red Cross mission.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to helping people in need. We are proud of you and grateful for the impact you made on communities recovering from the Washington wildfires.

Many of our locations are currently affected with poor air quality from the wildfires in western Germany.

Wildfire smoke is a mixture of air pollutants that are harmful to your health. Learn how to reduce your exposure.....limit time outdoors and in particular outdoor exercise.

Keep track of the weather, fires near you, and listen to instructions from local authorities.

Thanks to Embry-Riddle for letting the American Red Cross support the Solar Watch Event Wednesday! We served almost 300 cups of lemonade and treats, and our Animal Visitation Team with Bailey & Slushy were out supporting too!

Bailey was all about the Solar Eclipse look while hanging out with her favorite 726 AMS personnel!

The American Red Cross Spangdahlem had a great time serving ice cold lemonade at the Schoolapalooza event Wednesday at the Community Commons! We served almost 400 cups of deliciousness! Thanks for letting us support!

What an incredible year the American Red Cross Spangdahlem - BENELUX had in FY26! Our amazing volunteers in Spangdahlem, SHAPE, Chievres, Brussels, Brunssum and GK delivered over 14,000 interactions with our military community members in activities such as CPR classes, Resiliency workshops, and morale activities. Our Animal Visitation Team interacted with over 4,000 community members! Our volunteers contributed over 5,000 hours in support of the mission.

What's coming up in FY27? We are launching Dental Assistant Programs and Pharm Tech Programs in SHAPE and Spangdahlem, we are recruiting RNs and Pharmacists to help with the SHAPE Clinic Influenza campaign, and we are recruiting English & Spanish Presentation Teams for Prepare with Pedro and Whale Tales Water Safety!

We are so happy to introduce our Volunteers of the Year Jennifer, Samantha, Dereld and Nicole, and our Volunteer Team of the Year Erica, Lauren, Mattie and Yvette!

UPDATE: CLASS IS FULL! SPANGDAHLEM AB: REGISTRATION DEADLINE AUGUST 3rd......4 seats remaining!

Our last Babysitter Basics class of the summer is August 5th 1200 - 1600.

Registration fee is $18 and this will cover both the Babysitter Basics class AND a Pediatric CPR class (date TBD after school starts).
