What does it mean to build a life that feels like your own when you’re learning to navigate a whole new set of systems?

For our third Belonging is Power workshop, we’ll spend the afternoon talking about work, money, roles and the systems that shape our lives as migrant women in Berlin. We’ll explore taxes, financial services, employment and small business options, while making space for the bigger questions too: what do we want for ourselves, what have we inherited, and what are we ready to redefine?

We’ll be joined by the visionary KAVE BULAMBO , whose own migration journey has shaped the way she thinks about identity, work and finding your place beyond the label of “migrant”.

Women are taught to care for everyone else long before they’re taught to ask what they need themselves.

Migration doesn’t make that disappear. If anything, it often makes it heavier.

This weekend, we gathered for the second workshop of our Belonging is Power programme to reflect on the people we care for, the people who care for us, and the kinds of relationships that help us build a life somewhere new.

To every woman who joined us: thank you. It was such a privilege to share this afternoon with you. We left feeling deeply moved by the conversations, the reflections, and connections. Thank you for making this space what it is. 🤍

Migration asks us to constantly adapt, but very rarely does it ask us to pause; to reflect, to sit with what the experience is actually doing to us.

When we created our programme for migrant women in Berlin, we wanted to create space for a different possibility: a brave space where women can bring their questions, experiences, uncertainties, and perspectives into conversation with one another. A space where we can learn from each other, challenge our assumptions, and belong in community.

Here’s pt1 of a beautiful glimpse into our Open Day. Spoiler: it was SO magical, we can’t get over it.

💚 Belonging is Power: Community Potluck & Yoga 💚

Join us this Saturday for an afternoon of gentle yoga, delicious food, and meaningful connection.

We’ll begin with a beginner-friendly yoga session led by the wonderful Sri before settling into a shared meal and conversations with other women from our community.

If you’d like, bring a dish that reminds you of home or something you’d love to share with others. 🍲✨

On June 13th, we’re hosting our next Belonging is Power community event: a potluck for migrant women in Berlin.

Bring a dish that reminds you of home, a recipe with a story, or simply something you’d love to share.

One thing nobody tells you about migration is how much time you spend living between things.

Between countries, languages, versions of yourself. Between who you were and who you’re becoming.

We recently held the first workshop of our Berlin Programme for Migrant Women, in partnership with .are.tomorrow , creating space to make sense and explore some of those in-between moment together.

Thank you to all the incredible women who joined us for your trust, and presence. We loved seeing familiar faces from the Open Day, and meeting new ones! 🥹❤️

We’re still in awe of our Open Day 🥹🫶

Honestly, it’s hard to put into words what this event meant to us. This programme has been something we’ve poured a lot of heart into from the very beginning; what was once only a dream is now reality.

Most of our team knows what it feels like to start over somewhere new. To figure out life as you go, to sit with an overwhelming amount of questions, to not always feel like you belong.

We didn’t create this space because we have answers (spoiler: we don’t.) We created it because we know what it’s like to live with those questions. And how much it matters to not face them alone.

We’re really humbled by the love that we all shared, and SO SO thankful.

Thank you all for trusting us, for showing up, for bringing your full selves into the space.

Thank you to our dream team and .are.tomorrow for turning a dream into reality.

Our Open Day reminded all of us why spaces like this matter. Why community matters. Why belonging really IS power.
