Containing Organizational Dynamics in Times of Polarization: What can the Presidents' Meeting Process Committee offer IPA's Current and Future Leaders?
IPA Zoom Meeting, 20th of November 2026, 4-5.30 pm London

The meeting explores the complex challenges confronting leaders in today's increasingly polarized environment by drawing on the practical lessons learned by the IPA Presidents’ Meeting Process Initiative. Based on direct experience facilitating sustained dialogue among society presidents across multiple world regions, the presenters examine leadership challenges through the lens of Wilfred Bion's theories of organizational dynamics and propose practical approaches for addressing them. Particular attention will be given to tensions arising from hardships related to the management of organizational dynamics in cases of conflict, succession difficulties, teleanalysis, social media attacks and geopolitical antagonism. Beyond addressing immediate leadership ordeals, the panelists highlight the innovative character of the PMP model that creates a unique space in which trust, reflective capacity, and mutual learning can develop, enabling IPA leaders to think together about complex institutional problems.

The meeting will provide a forum for discussion on questions such as: How can IPA leaders cultivate balanced, fair, pluralistic, and democratic relationships within their societies? What skills and forms of support from the PMP committee are needed to accomplish this? How can dialogues that have broken down be understood, and how might mutual understanding be restored and strengthened? What can the IPA do to bring your Society closer to it and improve the membership experience? Interesting meeting ! Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/Ud_cfChZSc2XMEOlba2fKA

Change begins when lived experiences are given a voice.

This , the IPA joins the call to elevate "real voices, real change."

Psychoanalysis goes beyond the surface, recognizing the unique, lived experience of every subject. By listening deeply, we shift from isolation to community-based care, helping people heal in the environments they belong to.

Let's listen to think and help think.
