This summer has been heatwaves, droughts and fire.

Yet, polluters are still pushing to weaken the very laws that protect our best defence: healthy nature.

Over 80% of Europe's habitats are already in poor condition. We need stronger nature, not less.

The new, updated edition of the Case Law of the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee 2004-2025 is officially out.

Authored by Luisa Schneider and Andriy Andrusevych, this practical toolkit helps environmental defenders and citizens easily navigate over 20 years of key legal findings on access to information, public participation, and justice.

As co-authors Luisa Schneider & Andriy Andrusevych explain: “In the face of biodiversity loss and climate change, environmental rights are not just abstract legal principles. They are powerful tools that enable people to protect the places they love and shape a liveable future for all humans and non-humans alike. I hope this case law collection will make a meaningful contribution by giving everyone, from engaged citizens to decision-makers, the knowledge and confidence to help turn those rights into reality.”

The European Commission recently released its EU Livestock Strategy and Protein Action Plan. While cutting dependence on imported feed is a step forward, it misses the bigger picture.🌾

Nearly two-thirds of EU protein comes from animal sources, but the crisis isn't just environmental. The EU is choosing to protect an outdated, corporate-driven model rather than securing a sustainable future for young farmers.

We can't ask the next generation to inherit a broken system. We need bold structural reform that puts rural youth and ecosystems first.

Who protects those protecting nature? 🌍⚖️

Young environmental defenders shouldn’t have to risk their wellbeing, face legal harassment, or battle burnout just to defend our shared future.

From uniting with over 280 young defenders in Strasbourg to taking our demands directly to the Aarhus Convention Working Group in Geneva as the only youth observer, YEE is pushing for stronger rights, better protection, and real accountability.

There can be no lasting peace without ecological justice!

Environmental destruction and conflict are deeply connected. That’s why youth from across Europe gathered in Armenia to co-create the Arzni Declaration on Youth and Environmental Conflicts.

We are calling on all organisations, groups, and collectives to stand united with us. Through this declaration, we demand immediate youth involvement in decision-making, strict accountability for environmental destruction, a rapid transition to a future-oriented economy, and true democratic cooperation.

Hit the link in our bio to read the full declaration and sign it by September 11! ✍️

🚨WE YOUTH ORGANISATIONS MOBILIZE FOR OUR NATURE POLICIES IN THE EU 🚨

🌼 What is happening? Read the post for a detailed explanation!

There is an ongoing assessment of the EU Nature Directives, ensuring the protection of thousands of species and habitats in all EU countries 🇪🇺

‼️It could bring helpful solutions but could also turn into an excuse to water down these legislations, by removing requirements & species from the protection lists.

🔥 As youth organisations we sent our contributions directly to the European Commission! Read our demands in the post
