Why can a small inconvenience be completely manageable one day — and feel enormous the next?

That is where Laila starts Finding Your Calm, a 90-minute practical workshop at ATMA this Saturday.

Our nervous system is constantly responding to what is happening around us and inside us, and those responses can show up in very ordinary situations — stress, change, relationships, or the moment when something small suddenly feels like too much.

Laila will introduce some of the basic theory in accessible language, and then you’ll actually try several simple, evidence-informed practices.

There will be time to notice how each one feels for you, reflect on your own experience and ask questions.

And I like one thing in Laila’s description especially:
the aim is not to be calm all the time. It is to understand your own nervous system a little better and leave with a few things you can experiment with in everyday life.

No previous knowledge or experience needed.

What does it mean to surrender?

We often associate surrender with giving something up. Losing control. Becoming passive. Letting someone else decide.

But what if surrender could also be a conscious choice?

What if giving someone else power could become an experience of agency, trust or even liberation?

At the next Eros Reading Circle, we’ll explore power and surrender beyond the familiar stereotypes.

Our starting point will be selected chapters from Different Loving: The World of $exual Dominance & Submission — a book built around personal stories and interviews with people exploring alternative expressions of intimacy.

Where is the difference between surrender and submission?

Who is actually in control when two people consciously play with power?

How can intense fantasies coexist with trust, boundaries and consent?

You don’t need any previous experience with D/S, B**M or alternative relationships. You might come simply because you are curious.

We’ll begin with tea or cacao and a short grounding practice, followed by a sharing circle around the reading. From there, we’ll open the conversation to power exchange, trust, boundaries, consent — and whatever else the text brings up for us.

The selected reading will be emailed to you before the event.

Real Women is a circle where women come together to explore themselves through the body, reflection and honest conversation.

This time, we will explore shame—how it lives in our bodies, shapes the way we see ourselves, and keeps us from fully showing up as who we are.

How does shame show up in your life? What beliefs or stories keep it alive?

We will begin with a short cacao ceremony to arrive and connect with our senses.

Through a guided somatic journey using breath, movement, sound and visualization, you will be invited to connect with the sensations, emotions and patterns connected to shame.

We will revisit experiences that shaped your relationship with shame and meet them with compassion and curiosity.

You will be invited to reconnect with your inherent worth and make space for your imperfect, authentic self.

We will then move into journaling and honest conversation, exploring how shame affects the way we relate to ourselves, our bodies and others—and how we can begin to loosen its grip.

Facilitated by Adrienn Hodi • Somatics & Bodywork • CZ & HU, somatic practitioner and bodyworker.

Please bring a journal and a pen.

The circle includes cacao. Let us know in advance about any food allergies or sensitivities so the cacao preparation can be adapted.

Our bodies are intelligent. Often more so than we give them credit for. They store an enormous amount of information that we absorb in our daily lives; they protect us in stressful situations and carry all of our weight—physical and emotional.

In the first session of Somatics into Contact we will aim to gently reconnect with our bodies and listen to what they have to say. Maybe we will meet some tension or hesitancy and maybe we will meet a silent whisper of desire.

Together we will create a space where all can coexist, and the messages of our bodies are met with curiosity and tenderness.

The intention we will have together in this first session is to build a “brave space”.

A space where we can practise listening for an inner yes and no and experiment with letting these messages influence our decision-making. A space that encourages us all to take a little step forward when we feel ready and a step back when it is not the time yet.

Gently guided by solo, couple and group exercises, we will be tuning into our bodies and exploring the pleasures of moving together.

Through meditation, movement and playful exercises we will explore tuning in, active decision-making, practising presence and having fun.

Facilitated by Anna Pecinová, a movement artist in dance, physical theatre and improvisation.

For a long time, I thought of the New Year as the natural moment to pause, look back at the year behind me and ask myself where I want to go next.

But in recent years, I’ve started to experience the spring and autumn equinoxes as equally meaningful moments of transition—natural points in the yearly cycle to slow down, take stock, and reconnect with our own direction.

What am I ready to leave behind?
What is asking to be renewed?
And what do I want to carry with me into the next chapter?

This Autumn Equinox, I invite you into a warm women’s circle to honour transition, renewal and the journey of becoming more fully yourself.

We will begin with a heart-opening cacao ritual, creating a grounded and supportive space. From there, through guided breathwork, music and imagery, you will enter a symbolic inner forest and walk your own unique path to your inner wisdom.

Along the way, you may encounter parts of yourself that have been silenced or forgotten, meet versions of yourself from the past and the future, and gently release what has completed its cycle.

We will close the evening with an optional sharing circle, allowing space for integration and the support of sisterhood.

With Katya Zheltova, certified breathwork facilitator and therapist.

Is there a special summer moment you would love to hold on to—a beautiful detail from your recent holiday, a sunny afternoon by the lake with friends, a flower from your garden, or a place that brings back a beautiful memory?

In this three-hour creative workshop, we will turn one of those memories into a luminous painting on glass while exploring the fascinating technique of reverse glass painting.

Bring a photograph featuring one simple, clearly defined subject that you would like to capture. Rather than choosing a whole landscape or an image with many different elements, look for one particular detail or motif that can become the focus of your painting.

Working on a small glass panel (13 × 18 cm), you will use your photograph as inspiration and learn step by step how to build your image.

Reverse glass painting turns the usual painting process around: the image is painted on the back of the glass, with details and layers created in a different order. At the end, you turn the glass over and see your finished painting from the front.

No previous painting experience is required. The workshop is limited to five participants, allowing plenty of space for individual guidance and questions.

You will leave with your own finished reverse glass painting—and a little piece of summer to take home with you.

Facilitated by Laila Seidel, a professional visual artist and educator with many years of experience teaching creative workshops.

What kind of man do you want to be? And how much of that did you choose for yourself?

Maybe you grew up with the idea that you should manage everything alone. Know what you’re doing. Be successful. Keep your feelings to yourself.

Some of those expectations might still make sense to you. Others might feel tiring, or make it difficult to ask for help, talk to someone you love, or admit that you’re unsure.

On 27 September, we are inviting you to ATMA to spend a few hours exploring this with psychologist Dmytro German and other men.

The workshop is called The Masculinity Self-Audit. You’ll look at the ideas about being a man that you’ve picked up from family, culture, media and people around you—and ask which ones you actually want to keep.

There will be time to think and write individually, talk together, and try out everyday situations through role-play. You’ll practise responding with a little more choice, especially where your own rules have become rigid.

You’ll also put into words what matters to you and the kind of man you want to be, then make a practical plan for the next 30 days.

Dmytro German, MA, works with men on anxiety, self-esteem, relationships and life transitions, using CBT and ACT.

Meet Laila, one of the beautiful humans of ATMA🫂

Who are you, really?
Laila is a creative soul, deeply interested in exploring and observing the world around her. She loves meeting people from different cultures, exchanging knowledge, and discovering beauty in ordinary things.

Where do you come from, and what part of that place still lives inside you?
She comes from Bremen, Germany, a Hanseatic city that shaped her deeply. But many other places live inside her too—from the nature of New Zealand and the sandy beaches of Yssyk Köl in Kyrgyzstan to small towns in Slovakia and Latvia, where she met artists from around the world. These places continue to appear in her artwork.

What brought you to ATMA?
Laila first came to ATMA for the 5 Minute University. She immediately liked the atmosphere and the people—their genuine interest, curiosity and desire to connect. Since then, she has wanted to return with her own workshops.

A RealTalk moment:
After travelling the world, Laila’s current journey takes her deeper into herself—her thoughts, patterns, fears and hopes. She is especially curious about the nervous system and how it influences our everyday behaviour.

She believes in lifelong learning and evolution. Somehow, life seems to become even more interesting as she gets older.

What lights you up?
Painting, dancing, singing, time with friends and family, boarding a plane and planning her next projects.

What’s one dream or project you are carrying in your heart?
Since she was a teenager, Laila has dreamed of visiting Japan. Now she has been invited to an artist residency in rural Hiroshima, where she will create paper cuts.

Fully immersing herself in a place and transforming what she observes into art feels like the best possible way to experience Japan.

A message to the ATMA community:
Laila is looking forward to meeting you and sharing some of what she has learnt and explored. She hopes to inspire you to try something new—and to be inspired in return by the stories and thoughts you bring.

You can meet Laila at Glass painting on 20.09 and Finding Your Calm on 26.09 at ATMA. Check out full info in bio☝️
