This year, we have the immense privilege of being part of the fourth edition of the Biennale Matter of Art, alongside incredible artists, titled Necessary Wishes, curated by Jaroslava Tomanová, Jakub Gawkowski, and František Fekete. It draws on the decentralized approach to showcasing art created out of necessity with other independent collectives in the local cultural scene we are
Biennale Matter of Art’s production team mounted this beautiful scaffolding structure at the Národní galerie Praha as a form of a radio tower for us to make it our own; with a little intervention, we wrapped the tower up with little pieces and textures of what comes to be moments & experiences which, throughout time, have shaped our identity. Deeply rooted in a DIY approach.
Being a part of such a great initiative that continues to challenge the way institutionalized art events are structured and create a more accessible pathway for visitors, artists, and collectives to engage in community practices that reinforce the importance of amplifying voices that would have otherwise not been visible in institutional settings.
A big thanks to the tranzit.cz team, production lead Nika Schnitzerová, curators, artists from the Biennale who have worked so hard on this and most importantly Jar Oslava who connected with the Shella fellas for this wonderful initiative and created a space for us.
