Cycling Cyprus is a non~profit organisation that presents an annual charity ride around the coast of southern Cyprus from Kato Pyrgos in the west to Dhyrenia in the east. We are proud to be an all~volunteer organisation that mandates 100% of all money raised by the riders this year goes directly to the 'Tony Newell Fund' for his treatment of throat cancer. Our target is to raise €1000 on the 1st O

ctober 2012 when Paul Clarke will be cycling the island in one day. In 2009 Cycling Cyprus started with just 1 rider raising money for charities in Paphos. 2010 saw riders coming from abroad to join the event. 2011 we raised money for Kat Hadjipetrou, a 16 yr old girl needing a bone marrow transplant. Also Friends of the Paphos Hospice benefited from Paul doing a day long static bike ride at Bona Mare along with various charity events that we attended to help a variety of Paphos based charities.

Tillie Anderson Shoberg wears a costume worn by women cyclists in the early 1890s. Shoberg was known as "Tillie the Terrible Swede." An immigrant from Sweden, Shoberg was known as the best female bicyclist in the late 1800s. She competed until 1902 when the League of American Wheelmen banned women from racing.
