Rotary Club Nicosia Lefkothea 🌟 Our Story – Rotary Club of Nicosia Lefkothea 🌟

Service. Fellowship. Purpose. This includes:

1. Upholding high ethical standards in all professions.
3.

Inspired by the ancient spirit of guidance and service, we are a community of professionals committed to making a positive impact in Cyprus and beyond. 🌿🌍

🔹 Service Above Self Founded in 1988, the Rotary Club of Nicosia Lefkothea is the third Rotary Club in the heart of Cyprus’s capital, proudly sharing this historic city with our sister clubs: Rotary Club of Nicosia (est. 1938) and Rotary Club of Nicosia-Ledra (est. 1982). Our charter was officially presented on January 31, 1988, in a special ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, Nicosia, by District Governor Dr. Gamil Waly to our first President, Michalakis Triantafyllides.

💛 What We Stand For

At our core is a simple, powerful idea:
Service Above Self – to lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and grow through fellowship. The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a foundation of meaningful, ethical enterprise. Building connections – seeing acquaintance as an opportunity to serve.
2. Living a life of service – in our personal, business, and community lives.
4. Promoting peace and understanding through global friendship and action.

🔄 Our Avenues of Service

These are the pillars that shape our work and our impact:
• Club Service: Strengthening the bonds within our club and ensuring we function effectively as a team.
• Vocational Service: Using our professional skills to serve others with integrity and purpose.
• Community Service: Creating real, lasting change in the lives of people around us.
• International Service: Building bridges of understanding and delivering humanitarian aid across borders.
________________________________________

🧭 Our Ethical Compass: The Four-Way Test

In all we think, say, or do, we ask ourselves:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? This timeless test—translated into more than 100 languages—guides Rotarians around the world in making decisions that matter.

❤️ WORLD HEART DAY | 29 SEPTEMBER ❤️

Today, on World Heart Day, the Rotary Club Nicosia Lefkothea renews a simple but important commitment: helping build communities that are better prepared to protect life.

Through Heart Safe Cyprus, our Club is working to strengthen public awareness of CPR and AED use, support access to lifesaving equipment, and encourage more people to gain the confidence and skills to respond when every second matters.

Because creating a heart-safe community is not only about placing an AED. It is about building a culture of preparedness, knowledge and action.

🫀 Every Heart Matters.
⚡ Learn CPR. Know where the AED is. Be ready to act.

⚙️ A Full House for 35 Years of Grit, Grace & Gears

The Rotary Club Nicosia Lefkothea had the honour of hosting “35 Years of Grit, Grace & Gears – My Rotary Journey”, presented by Dr Popi Nikolaidou Kanari, Past President, in celebration of her remarkable milestone of 35 years of dedicated service to Rotary.

🏛️ The full house was a powerful reflection of the respect, affection and admiration Dr Kanari has earned throughout her distinguished journey.

🤝 Through her personal experiences, she shared valuable lessons on leadership, perseverance and service—reminding us that a true legacy is created through the lives we influence and the lasting impact we leave behind.

Our sincere appreciation to Dr Kanari for her enduring contribution and inspiring example, and our heartfelt thanks to the Rotarians, friends and distinguished guests whose presence made this milestone celebration truly memorable.

✨ Thirty-five years of service. A journey defined by grit, grace and purpose. A legacy that continues to inspire.

❤️ EXTREME HEAT & YOUR HEART ☀️

High temperatures can put extra strain on your heart and increase the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, heart attack, and stroke.

Protect yourself and those around you:

💧 Drink water regularly
🏠 Stay in cool or shaded places
🕚 Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest hours (11:00–17:00)
👒 Wear light clothing, a hat, and sunscreen
❤️ If you have heart disease, follow your doctor’s advice and take your medication as prescribed
👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbours, and anyone who may be vulnerable

⚠️ Seek immediate medical help (112) if someone experiences:
• Chest pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Confusion or loss of consciousness
• A very high body temperature

Small actions today can save lives tomorrow.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Protect your heart.
