Art has the power to spark dialogue, strengthen communities, and inspire action.

We were delighted to participate in the Art Work(s) Forum organised by YEU Cyprus, where artists, civil society organisations, and community members came together to explore how creativity can drive social change and active citizenship.

During the forum, we shared Mission Solidarity's perspective on the role of civil society in fostering inclusion, participation, and community engagement. We were also excited to screen our animation created as part of the UNMUTE: Because Democracy Doesn't Work in Silence project, highlighting the importance of youth voices, democratic participation, and standing up against silence in the face of social challenges.

The discussions continued beyond the forum during the Community Music Jam, where people came together through hip hop, rebetiko, African djembe, and other musical traditions.

A big thank you to YEU Cyprus for organising such a meaningful event and to everyone who took part in the discussions, performances, and music throughout the day. We were happy to be part of it!

Mission Solidarity, in collaboration with the University of Cyprus, is conducting a research study to explore how people perceive extremism, political discourse, and related social issues.

In a rapidly changing world, understanding different perspectives is essential for strengthening democratic values, social cohesion, and informed public dialogue. Your participation will help researchers gain valuable insights into how these issues are understood within our communities.

Another beautiful Sunday of food, solidarity and community. On the 21st of June we cooked up Mexican-style bowls with minced chicken and beef, rice, vegan sour cream, yoghurt and fresh salad, finished off with 50 kg of refreshing watermelon.

Over 200 portions were served, alongside many useful things like clothes and kitchen utensils shared through the free market.

Thank you to everyone who helped cook, serve, organise and share the day with us. Community at its best. ✊

📢 New Report Out!

Mission Solidarity, as part of the UNMUTE project, has published a new Cross-National Synthesis Report exploring young people's perceptions of democracy across Cyprus, Italy, Lithuania, and Spain.

Bringing together the voices of young people aged 14-18 and 18-30, the report examines how they understand democracy, experience participation, and navigate their relationship with institutions and decision-making processes.

The findings reveal a shared picture across all four countries: young people value democracy and want to participate, yet many feel unheard, excluded from meaningful decision-making, and limited by barriers linked to age, representation, and trust.

At the same time, the research highlights young people's resilience, civic engagement, and strong desire to contribute to their communities and democratic life.

Another beautiful Sunday of food, solidarity and community. On the 10th of May we cooked up beef tava, vegan tava (soya), pourgouri salad and lemon cake for dessert.
Over 180 portions served and 120 pieces of cake shared, alongside many useful things like clothes and kitchen utensils given away through the free market.

📢 New Report Out!

Mission Solidarity, as part of the UNMUTE project, has published a new desk research report exploring youth engagement with democracy in Cyprus.

Focusing on ages 14-18 and 18-30, the report explores how young people understand democracy, participate in civic life, and experience being heard.

The findings highlight low participation rates, limited trust in institutions, and the lack of representation, especially among teenagers who are often missing from research.

At the same time, young people continue to engage in their own ways, showing that the issue is not a lack of interest, but a lack of meaningful inclusion.
