Cyprus Seeds We support scientific teams to take their research from lab to the market. Cyprus Seeds is therefore more than just a grant program.

It is a unique initiative to create a hub of excellence in which academic research teams will get top-tier business education and mentor support to create successful businesses. Cyprus Seeds is the first but necessary step of a long path towards building a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem around the universities of Cyprus – an ecosystem leveraging the research work being carried out in the universities and research institutions of Cyprus. Cyprus Seeds runs a 12-month program for a second year. The second cycle will run from November 2020 to November 2021.

Early stage commercialization support often becomes the turning point that helps research teams grow into credible spinouts and MammoCheck, one of Cyprus Seeds’ alumni ventures, is a clear example of this pathway 🔬🚀The team has reached another milestone, securing €500,000 under the Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας/ Research and Innovation Foundation ’s SEED programme, strengthening their pathway toward FDA 510(k) clearance in the United States and CE marking in Europe.

The grant will support the clinical and regulatory steps behind their adjunctive breast screening software, developed in collaboration with the Frederick University Cyprus, where the company first originated. This achievement reflects the momentum the team has built and the growing maturity of Cyprus based medical innovation. Warm congratulations to Alexandra Dimitriadou, Marios Pafitis and the whole team as they continue advancing a solution designed to expand access to early detection worldwide 🤝✨

As AI keeps evolving, so does deep tech innovation, and new challenges appear on the scene: transforming technologies that embed AI, protecting AI related IP, and ensuring that purpose, structure and hardware remain aligned to achieve meaningful results. Keeping up with these trends, Cyprus Seeds and Digital Innovation Hub Cyprus - Diginn, of which we are partners, co organized a panel on AI powered science, exploring how founders can embed AI into products, safeguard IP, and build technologies that connect algorithms with hardware, clinical needs and market realities 🤖✨

💡Cyprus’ deep tech potential is strong, yet the path from research to market remains challenging. As supporters of initiatives that strengthen the national innovation ecosystem, Cyprus Seeds is contributing to the upcoming #7 DeepTech CY Meetup, where key actors will come together to discuss what it truly takes to build a deep tech economy in Cyprus.
