Girne Düşünce Derneği’nin daveti ve organizasyonu ile Dome Hotel’de düzenlenen “KOD 82” belgesel gösterimi ve panel etkinliği gerçekleştirildi. Yönetmenliğini Mine Balman’ın üstlendiği belgeselin gösteriminin ardından düzenlenen panelde, Canan Onurer, Okan Dağlı ve Ulaş Barış izleyicilerle bir araya geldi.

Etkinlikte, Kıbrıslı Türk gazeteci ve aydınların yaşadığı deneyimler üzerine kapsamlı değerlendirmeler yapıldı. Katılımcıların aktif ilgisi ve katkılarıyla gerçekleşen söyleşi, farklı perspektiflerin paylaşılmasına imkan sağladı.

Λίγα λόγια για την ταινία

Καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του 20ού αιώνα στην Κύπρο, ο εθνικισμός τροφοδότησε τα στρώματα φόβου, απώλειας και άλυτου τραύματος. Μετά τη διαίρεση του νησιού, τα εκπαιδευτικά συστήματα και στις δύο πλευρές μετατράπηκαν σε ισχυρά εργαλεία αναπαραγωγής αυτών των πληγών. Μετέδωσαν στις νέες γενιές μονομερείς αφηγήσεις, παραποιημένες ιστορίες και αρνητικές εικόνες για τον «άλλο». Στην ταινία Beyond History Education, Τουρκοκύπριοι και Ελληνοκύπριοι που γεννήθηκαν μεταξύ 1975 και 1990, μεγάλωσαν χωριστά και εκπαιδεύτηκαν μέσα στις συνθήκες της διαίρεσης, διερευνούν πώς η σχολική εκπαίδευση διαμόρφωσε τις αντιλήψεις τους για την ιστορία, την ταυτότητα και ο ένας για τον άλλον. Μέσα από προσωπικές μαρτυρίες, έρχονται αντιμέτωποι με την εθνικιστική προπαγάνδα που ενυπάρχει στην εκπαίδευση, με τις σιωπές και τις παραλείψεις των επίσημων ιστορικών αφηγήσεων, και συζητούν τη διαρκή επίδραση αυτών των αφηγήσεων στις αντιλήψεις και στις διακοινοτικές σχέσεις. Στις μετα-συγκρουσιακές κοινωνίες, η μνήμη του παρελθόντος, ο διαμοιρασμός και η κριτική επανεκτίμησή του αποτελούν θεμελιώδη βήματα της διαδικασίας επούλωσης. Η ταινία επιδιώκει να ενισχύσει την ενσυναίσθηση, να αμφισβητήσει τα κληρονομημένα στερεότυπα και να ανοίξει χώρο για αλλαγή, φέρνοντας σε διάλογο τις ατομικές και συλλογικές μνήμες. Η ταινία συμβάλλει στις συνεχιζόμενες συζητήσεις για την εκπαίδευση για την ειρήνη στην Κύπρο, για τα μέτρα οικοδόμησης εμπιστοσύνης και για τον ρόλο του μελλοντικού εκπαιδευτικού συστήματος στην υποστήριξη της συμφιλίωσης και της βιώσιμης ειρήνης.

In a period when political tensions once again remind us how fragile peace can be, the need for genuine reconciliation and a political settlement in Cyprus becomes even more urgent. “Beyond History Education” brings together Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots who grew up on both sides of the divide to reflect on how education systems and official political narratives shaped understanding of history, identity, and “the other.”

These testimonies reveal how intergenerational trauma has been transmitted across decades and how deeply it continues to influence relationships between the communities.

Join us for the screening of “Beyond History Education” and stay for a discussion on how education has contributed to division & how it could instead become a tool for reconciliation.

By reflecting together on the past, we can begin imagining a different future for the younger generations of Cyprus.
