Day 5 of ReCharge took participants from Serbia 🇷🇸, Estonia 🇪🇪, Spain 🇪🇸, Türkiye 🇹🇷 and Romania 🇷🇴 outside the usual workshop space and into the field, where learning continued through observation, reflection and connection with the local environment. ⚡🌿
As part of the youth exchange programme, participants visited Mokra Gora and explored how natural areas, cultural heritage and local communities can be connected with conversations about sustainability, responsible behaviour and environmental awareness.
The field trip was not only about visiting a new place, but about learning how different communities use and protect their natural and cultural resources. Participants had the opportunity to observe the connection between people, tourism, transport, nature and local development, and to reflect on how these elements can influence the environment when they are managed responsibly or irresponsibly.
During the visit, the group discussed how sustainable choices can be applied not only in energy production, but also in everyday movement, travel, community planning and the way we use shared natural spaces. Through informal conversations and group reflection, participants connected the experience with the main topic of the ReCharge project — how young people can better understand their role in building more sustainable habits and communities.
This day helped participants see that learning in a youth exchange does not happen only during indoor sessions. Sometimes, the most meaningful learning comes from being in a real environment, asking questions, comparing different realities and thinking about how local examples can inspire action back home.
Day 5 reminded us that sustainability is not just a theory — it is something we can observe, question and practice in the world around us. 🌍💚
