We’re closing our 2025 Regenerative Realities series with a powerful conversation on the Ecology of Trust - a core principle for any community, land project, or collective effort seeking to grow with integrity over time.

Much of the destruction and violence on our planet, toward women, the Earth, and life itself, can be traced to masculinity bereft of mentorship, eldership, and initiation. Without rites of passage, men inherit power without guidance and freedom without responsibility, giving rise to the wounded expression we call 'toxic masculinity'.

In this timely conversation, filmmaker and mythosomatic guide Ian MacKenzie (Co-director The Village of Lovers and host of The Mythic Masculine podcast) invites us to reimagine masculinity not as the problem, but containing the vital potential as medicine for these times. Drawing upon the mythopoetic lineage, he explores the emergence of regenerative masculinity: a mature expression rooted in service, relationship, and reverence for life.

Through story, reflection, and audience dialogue, Ian will invite participants to consider how men’s initiation, brotherhood, and the mythic imagination can help reweave the fabric between the masculine, the feminine, and the living world.

“Belonging begins with being held by the world… and matures into holding the world in return.”

In an age of fragmentation, belonging is too often reduced to comfort and inclusion ~ yet true belonging is developmental.

Drawing inspiration from Bill Plotkin’s Soulcentric Wheel of Human Development and Zamir Dhanji’s essay “Laboratories of Belonging,” this experiential session explores how place-based, regenerative communities can become living laboratories for human maturation - testing new ways of being human that heal the divide between the personal, the social, and the ecological.

Participants will:
🌱 Experience the eight soulcentric stages of belonging - from innocence to wisdom.
🌱 Reflect on where their life, work, or community sits in this cycle of becoming.
🌱 Explore how research, leadership, and community design can embody belonging rather than just study it.
