Symbolizing unique strengths and qualities, the ten tribus were inspired by the Philippine trees—Tipolo, Kamagong, Katmon, Balakat, Lipote, Kalantas, Mangkono, Kalingag, Yakal, and Pakiling.
Through plenary sessions, the first day focused on building leadership foundations and exploring different key topics about understanding leadership, igniting initiative, strategy and vision, and teamwork.

The first session began with the speaker uncovering leadership insights from the student leaders’ own experiences. Following a series of activities, the speaker emphasized that leadership is not about the title nor position; rather, anyone can be leader as long as there are situations where they can lead.
Like a seed as it releases its roots, leadership starts with initiation, the willingness to step up.
𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝟐: 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥: 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩
After coming out from the seed, the second topic focused on the leadership spark. The speaker emphasized that leadership starts with a desire to create change, noting that initiating change is essential for leadership growth.
The session further highlighted that growth requires self-awareness and reflection, feedback and learning, taking initiative and building connections, and lastly having a growth mindset that embraces challenges and learns from failure.
𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝟑: 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩
For the afternoon session, the topic emphasized two main ideas:
Strategic thinking that focused on direction and knowing where the light is, stating the importance of creating clear goals that leads to meaningful results.
Visionary leadership emphasized future growth. The speaker encouraged student leaders to face their fears, stating that learning comes also by their willingness to try.
The session illuminated that leadership is about leading with a direction, vision, and especially with a purpose.
𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝟒: 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧: 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡
For the fourth topic, the speaker emphasized that leadership thrives through teamwork.
From the speaker’s garden analogy, the seeds represent the ideas mainly the purpose behind them; the soil represents the chosen environment for learning and growth; the water emphasizes the importance of clear communication; the sunlight as the source of one’s motivation; and lastly, the gardeners represent the team members who must also thrive and grow.
The session highlighted that success comes from cultivating collective growth and working together toward a shared goal.
The night’s energy was filled with spirit and enthusiasm as tribus delivered each yell for their yell competition activity. As the evening progressed, the mood transitioned into a heartfelt moment that filled the hall as the participants exchanged stories of their leadership journeys with their fellow student leaders for their socialization activity.
