La Union Typhoon Relief Aid Update: From Emong to Uwan

As we close the final phase of our Typhoon Emong Relief Operations, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this collective effort possible.

Together, we reached 3,253 households — supporting over 13,100 individuals, 7 schools and daycare centers, 3 marine protected areas and fisherfolk associations, and vulnerable community members including those needing medical aid, seniors, PWDs, children, infants, and even stray animals across 37 barangays in San Juan, San Fernando, Balaoan, Bacnotan, and Bauang. 🙏

All remaining goods and ₱130,223.25 in funds will now be allocated to Typhoon Uwan Relief Aid, strengthening our anticipatory safety measures and community response efforts.

Please save the emergency hotlines for quick assistance and stay tuned for coordination updates.

Together, we continue to care, prepare, and help our communities. 🌊

Citizens for LU Update | September 3

Today we delivered building materials worth ₱13,005 to one of our beneficiaries in Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union. 🌧️ Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers, Aling Gloria will now have a fixed roof to keep her safe this rainy season. ❤️

This is part of our ongoing effort to ensure equitable relief — that every family, regardless of status or means, has access to the help they need to recover and rebuild. 💪

Special thanks to our partner supplier for this case — Building Materials App Construction and Supplies — who is currently running a bagsak-presyo promo for San Juan residents and offering FREE delivery of materials within town. 🙌

September 2, 2025

Meet Mang Edwin Wayas, one of our Taboc fisherfolk beneficiaries, as he receives materials to rebuild his damaged boat.

Apart from fishing, Mang Edwin also volunteers as a Bantay Dagat, patrolling the San Juan Marine Protected Area to protect our ocean resources.

Last July 25, Typhoon Emong’s Signal No. 4 winds caused a tree to collapse on his boat, damaging nearly 70% of it.

Thanks to the generosity of our kind donors and partner organizations, Mang Edwin can now start rebuilding—another step forward in our collective effort to support our kapwa in their recovery journey.

🙏💙 Maraming salamat sa inyong walang sawang pagtulong Citizens for LU!

✅ We released 50 relief packs (with canned goods, rice, and cleaning materials) to families in Legleg and Caculangan.
👷‍♂️ Our volunteers also helped in Dangdangla, Sitio Alfonso, and Santa Rosa with cleaning and rebuilding efforts.
🏄‍♂️ We also deployed building materials to one of our local surfer instructors in San Juan to support their home reconstruction.
💊 Part of the funds were used to purchase Vitamin C and Off lotion for our deployed volunteers, to ensure they remain in good condition while serving on the ground.

🤝 We continue our rebuilding work and are planning to organize medical missions with the remaining donations, especially for typhoon victims who have not yet received support from our government partners.

🔹 When it comes to equitable relief, we know our limited funds and volunteer power cannot compare to the large budgets allocated to government agencies. However, through monetary assistance and the manpower of our volunteers, we have already helped individuals recover—whether through cleaning, repairing, or rebuilding their homes.

💡 Our efforts show that even with limited resources, when help is delivered fairly and with compassion, we can bring real hope and relief to our fellow citizens.

Typhoon Emong Update As of August 9, 2025

When Typhoon Emong tore through San Juan, it didn’t just damage homes—it shook the sense of safety that every family holds dear. For days, many were left with leaking roofs, soaked clothes, and uncertainty about what tomorrow would bring.

But because of you—our friends, neighbors, and supporters—we are slowly rebuilding not just houses, but hope.

As of today, we’ve received ₱228,057.68 PHP and $55.93 USD in donations. With this, we’ve begun delivering corrugated roofing materials to families who need them most. Already, 105 sheets have gone to 23 households, giving them back the comfort of shelter.

Your clothes donations have reached Calincamasan, Caculangan, Legleg, Saracat, Bugbugcao, and Allangigan, wrapping loved ones in warmth when they need it most.

And to our 110 San Juan Resort Restaurant & Hotel Association (SJRRHASS) members—we were able to share detergent, bleach, and goodies to help restore a little normal in their everyday lives.

For Citizens for LU, “equitable relief” means that every Juan in San Juan gets what they actually need to rebuild their life, not just an equal share of what’s available. This is what your kindness makes possible.

Para sa Citizens for LU, ang “makatarungang tulong” ay nangangahulugan na bawat Juan sa San Juan ay makatatanggap ng tulong na talagang kailangan nila para muling maitayo ang kanilang buhay.

Together, we will rebuild. Every Juan, standing strong.

In partnerhship with San Juan Resort Restaurant and Hotel Association Curma Surftown Pride La Union Surf Club, Inc. Starlight Raniag Ti San Juan Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc.

Much love and gratitude to our donors from CDO Foundation (Canned Goods), Wellmade Manufacturing Corporation (DOLUX and Speed Detergent), and Donato Production OPC (Corrugated Roofing)
