UAP La Union Lam-ang Chapter Holds March General Membership Meeting and Proclaims New Set of Officers

The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) La Union Lam-ang Chapter successfully conducted its March General Membership Meeting (GMM) at Selline Place in Bacnotan, La Union.

The meeting was presided over by Chapter President, Ar. Anthone Abrenica, and covered key agenda items including updates on the upcoming UAP National Convention 51 (NATCON 51), presentation of financial reports, and other relevant chapter matters.

A highlight of the GMM was the official announcement and proclamation of the results of the Chapter Elections for Fiscal Year 2026–2027. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC), led by Chair Ar. Jan Mark Cabamungan, confirmed the successful conduct of the elections, with eligible members actively participating in the selection of the incoming set of core officers.

During the proclamation, Ar. Greesciel M. Japson was officially declared as the incoming Chapter President for FY 2026–2027.

Additional matters discussed during the meeting included updates on Area A Vice Presidential rotations, concerns regarding chapter transferees, and other internal issues affecting the organization.

The UAP La Union Lam-ang Chapter continues to uphold transparency, active member participation, and organizational excellence through initiatives such as its regular General Membership Meetings.

The UAP La Union Lam-ang Chapter expresses its concern regarding the recent developments surrounding the rotational nomination for Vice President – Area A.

We acknowledge and respect the long-standing gentlemen’s agreement that has guided the rotation of leadership within Area A. This mechanism has served as a foundation for fairness, mutual respect, and equitable representation among districts over the years. Upholding such agreements is essential in maintaining trust and organizational integrity.
At the same time, the Chapter emphasizes the importance of addressing this matter with prudence and professionalism. Rather than pursuing actions that may further polarize the organization, we strongly encourage a collective effort to revisit, clarify, and reaffirm the agreement through open, transparent, and democratic dialogue among all concerned districts.

This situation also underscores a broader and continuing need: to ensure balanced and inclusive representation across Area A. As our organization evolves, it is imperative that leadership opportunities are accessible not only within Metro Manila but also among the provinces, whose voices and contributions are equally vital to the profession.
In this regard, we call for:

• The reaffirmation and clear articulation of the rotational nomination agreement
• A more transparent and participatory nomination process
• A sustained commitment to equitable representation across all districts

The UAP La Union Lam-ang Chapter remains committed to fostering unity, professionalism, and mutual respect within the organization. We are confident that, through constructive engagement and shared accountability, we can move forward in a manner that strengthens both our leadership and our collective trust.

The UAP La Union Lam-ang Chapter conducted its February General Membership Meeting at Selline Bed & Breakfast, Bacnotan, La Union.

Led by Chapter President Ar. Anthone Abrenica, the assembly discussed chapter updates, financial reports, and other organizational matters.

The three candidates for the upcoming Chapter Presidency also presented their respective platforms and engaged with the membership.

The Chapter likewise proudly recognized the newly licensed architects and formally welcomed its new members during the meeting.
