As a young girl, Liliana () wandered past Hacienda Casablanca, mesmerized by its rooftops and streams, dreaming of a coffee farm.

Born to parents displaced by Colombia’s conflict, she grew up among vegetable fields, not coffee.

“Why don’t we grow coffee?” she’d ask her father, knowing coffee always found a buyer.

Years later, against all odds, her dream came true. With a bold loan and a heart full of hope, she transformed a crumbling estate into a thriving coffee haven ()

In February 2025, Liliana hosted GCAG Colombia course on her farm, empowering 18 farmers with charity partners like TIMEMORE () and Federico Foundation (
.re), coffee educator , Her vision? A vibrant coffee community.

Coffee doesn’t just wake us up—it weaves stories, builds friendships, and transforms lives.

Our latest feature takes you to Baku, Azerbaijan, where Aysel Guluzada .guluzada & Timur Lyapin .coffee are quietly revolutionizing the city’s coffee scene.

Timur, once a waiter pouring tea in local cafes, has spent 15 years mastering his craft, evolving into a professional coffee coach and trainer who’s turned Baku’s tea-drinking traditions into a thriving coffee culture.

Aysel, a mother who felt adrift in 2020, discovered her calling behind the bar, channeling her newfound passion into a vibrant coffee blog and organizing events that bring people together. For example, the 2025 GCAG Charity Cupping. Their paths crossed over a shared obsession with the perfect brew, sparking collaborations, 80-person cuppings, and a friendship that stretches across borders.

This isn’t just a story about coffee—it’s about the connections it forges and the lives it changes.

What’s the moment coffee changed your life? Like this post. Share below and let’s celebrate the connections we brew together. 👇

Do you remember the pandemic’s shadow, when thousdands of coffee shops shut their doors? It was a dark moment for us all—empty counters, silenced grinders. Yet, some, like Wang Chuan held on. In Shenyang, his Hope Hi cafe became a beacon.

Wang built Hope Hi—a haven where coffee binds hearts. From a shaky novice, he mastered brewing, roasting, and pouring passion into every cup. Economic storms—skyrocketing costs, empty tables—threatened to shutter his dream, but Wang’s grit prevailed.

“Every cup builds a bond,” he says, hosting events that turn strangers into friends.

No world champion, Wang’s the unsung hero who keeps the coffee pulse alive, mentoring baristas to carry the torch. His story reminds us: it’s people like him, not just the famous, who weave our coffee community’s soul.

Like & share to honor these quiet giants!

At 15, Camilo was a restless kid, dodging school until his dad sent him to work on a coffee farm as a lesson. That punishment sparked a journey—he’s now a force linking countless farmers across Colombia 🇨🇴

“It was the best lesson I ever got—those long hours, wet days, and hard work showed me what coffee really means,” he says, reflecting on his roots.

Camilo’s work stretches beyond his plot. The Cranky Hummingbird () isn’t just a brand—it’s a bridge. Camilo’s social project links 700-800 Colombian producers, reclaiming cattle-scarred land ⛰️for coffee and 🌲 .

“I want farmers to know their work matters,” he adds, driving his mission.

Millions of farmers like Camilo deserve a voice—let’s amplify them.

Meet Hu Han (), co-owner of Müller Cafe in Shenyang, China, where coffee’s more than a buzz—it’s connection.

As a kid, Hu sniffed bitter beans in his family’s shop, but at 15, a bold trip to Beijing changed everything. One espresso at Beiping Coffee opened his eyes: ‘It wasn’t just bitter—it had flavors, happiness.’

Now, with partner Le, they run a cozy spot in a city of 8 million, where specialty coffee’s new but the community vibe’s old-school strong. Less flashy than Shanghai’s thousands of cafes, it’s real—think potlucks with regulars and iced Americanos after noodles.

Kevin (), a GCAG student, brews coffee with tools we shared with him—wearing the charity wristband, this’s more than a just gear pic.

Instagram’s full of fancy setups, but this? It’s different—a dream come true for us at I’M NOT A BARISTA.

Since 2020, we’ve fought to unite coffee lovers, from the campaign connecting thousands in tough times to projects like brewing guides, coffee wristbands, and 101 Coffee Stories.

In production countries, small-scale farmers like the Gómez sisters, Leo, Kevin, and many more—prices soar, voices fade, winners take all. Major media skips them, but we’ve been amplifying these unsung heroes—baristas and growers alike.

It’s hard to do good when cheers outnumber hands to help, and finding like-minded souls feels tougher than ever. Seeing Kevin brew with the new gears touches us deeply—it’s the coffee community we’ve dreamed of, where coffee connects, where people lift each other. We love coffee, and we know farmers matter so much. Let’s keep this going—for a future where every cup tells a story of support.

Join the movement, share your stories, show your support and care. Want to know more how to help ? DM us.

Big thanks to our leading charity partner purchasing 2000 wristbands from us, and donating 21 sets of tools (more than 130 items) to GCAG Colombia, and , we love to see more ethical businesses make waves.

Humanity runs on coffee.

The coffee community—what’s it really mean?
We see it all over Instagram, but pause and ask: Are we part of it? It’s not just beans or brews—it’s the growers, baristas, and dreamers we lift up together.

GCAG was a triumph, revealing the coffee community’s vast potential—united by a shared passion and deep love for this vibrant world.
