God’s infallible Word is absolutely essential. However, it is not uncommon that the Bible has yet to be translated into the language of a native people. This is often due to the fact that translation is typically a lengthy and costly process. The work requires translators with sufficient theological knowledge and bilingual language skills. In addition, the editing process can often be as difficult and time-consuming as the translation itself. Despite these obstacles, the fruit of such efforts is far beyond the labor and cost required!

In this clip from HeartCry's latest documentary, a long-time pastor and co-laborer with HeartCry in Myanmar shares a story about his translation work. HeartCry was privileged to support this pastor's work to translate the Bible into the Chin language in Myanmar. He explains: “I am not an expert, I am not a great man. I am a humble servant of the Lord.”

Urgent praise and prayer request update from Ecuador on Shuiling, who has been in intensive care with acute pancreatitis:

“Several days ago, Shuiling's mother went in to see Shuiling, and when her time was almost up, Shuiling said, ‘...the Lord has already come in.’ Her mother asked, ‘He’s come into your heart; do you believe in the Lord?’ She answered, ‘Yes, I do. Bring me the Bible.’ And my wife replied, ‘So you’re my sister?’ And she said, ‘Yes, I am.’”

The next day, a family member wrote:

“Shuiling has indeed come to faith. Her mother just came out after visiting her, and Shuiling was lucid while she spoke with her. When her mother went in on Friday, Shuiling said she understood that she needed to believe, and she asked the Lord, ‘Let me believe, help me to believe.’ That’s when she felt that the Lord saved her. They sang Psalm 91 together, and she’s very happy with the Lord."

Another family member was able to go in and talk to her as well, and reported that she was still lucid. This family member shares: "We talked for about 15 minutes, and I asked her about her faith in the Lord. I asked if she was clear and certain that the Lord had saved her. She told me that she has already believed. She told me, ‘yes, the Lord saved me.’ She then told me she wants to learn more and be baptized. We’re very happy because of what the Lord has done. Thank you for the prayers.”

The family is asking for continued prayer:

“Shuiling was moved out of the ICU and admitted to a regular hospital room. She still has two drains in her abdomen and a slight fever. Her abdomen remains swollen. They are giving her oxygen on and off so that her lungs can work harder until they reach their normal level. The surgeon has not seen her yet to evaluate the surgeries. She is in good spirits and trusting in the Lord. The Lord is good to us. Please continue to pray."

Shuiling shared with HeartCry:
"Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for praying for my salvation, for my healing, and for the Lord saving me from the brink of death. Because of these prayers, I believe I am here today. I am very, very, very grateful."

“I was born to an Orthodox family in the southern part of Moldova. When I was nine years old, my father died; and from that time, many things changed in my family. My mother did the best she could, but she spent all her time trying to earn enough money to feed us and had little left to provide for our education. I realized at an early age that life is full of conflicts. This put a desire in me for a family full of peace, quiet, and understanding. But looking around, I could not find a family like that.

As I grew up, the street started to impose its values on me and I began to change. I wanted to be friends with the most popular young people. There was one boy with whom I became friends. He was very popular among the young people, but then something changed. It was like he became another man. I heard that he was going to the “Baptist” religion. I did not know what it meant, but I no longer wanted to be his friend. Every time we met, he would talk to me about God and tell me that he was praying for me. One day, he invited me to watch a movie that presented the story of a family who believed in God. For the first time I saw the family that I was longing for but could not find anywhere. At the end of the movie, I thought that if those who believe in God have a family like this, then I will go to the church.

On the next Sunday, October 1992, I went to an evangelistic service in a village nearby. I did not understand very much, but I continued to attend the church services. The teaching helped me, but the Holy Spirit did not give me any peace yet. Then, one Saturday evening, I knelt down and told the Lord that I wanted to start a new life. He saved me in February of 1993.

I immediately became involved in the youth ministry of the church. After a while, my pastor taught me how to preach. Every Wednesday evening, my pastor sent me and other young people to a neighboring village where a church was just being planted. It was in the same village where I repented and was saved.”

Prayer update from baby Aaron's father in a protected country in Latin America:

“Aaron has been moved out of intensive care to a room called ‘skin-to-skin,’ where he is with his mother all the time. If there are no complications—which is what it looks like so far—he just has to reach the appropriate weight to be discharged from the hospital. But thank the Lord, he has no complications, no infection, he doesn’t have sepsis, he doesn’t have a fungal infection, and his heart duct isn’t open—all thanks to the Lord.

Through the Lord’s infinite and boundless goodness, we can see His favor in that He has granted us the health of our baby Aaron and of his mother as well. Aaron will be with his mother all the time now and no longer needs to be in an incubator, nor will he be on IVs or hooked up to machines because he’s responding very well and has made very good progress. He had lost a lot of weight—he was down to about two pounds—but now he weighs almost four pounds, and we’re waiting to see what the Lord will do with him in the coming days.

Thank you to all the brothers and sisters who have been praying for us, asking the Lord for a miracle. We hope, if the Lord allows it, that he’ll continue to gain weight until he reaches the weight that will allow him to leave that care unit. And then we’ll see when the Lord allows him to be discharged finally. It’s been a long journey, and there’s still some time to go. But thanks to the Lord’s goodness, he hasn’t had any complications.”

Thank you for praying with us for baby Aaron and his family as we have witnessed God answer and work marvelously.

What began as a small congregation gathering under a tree in South Sudan has now grown into a church of more than 200 members.

However, as Pastor David Jong and his fellow elder sought to disciple this growing congregation, they had no access to biblical literature or even a study Bible to assist them in their personal studies, teaching, and preaching.

In response to this need, HeartCry purchased commentaries for Pastor David and his church. In this picture, HeartCry missionary Benson Nkaasu presents Pastor David with these new resources.

Like Pastor David, many indigenous missionaries and pastors on the field do not have access to sound literature to aid them in their study of Scripture. Through your prayers, generosity, and partnership, we are able to provide Bibles, theological training, and biblical resources to brothers laboring in difficult places around the world.

A protected missionary in an undisclosed location in South Asia recently shared a report detailing his multi-faceted ministry work. He shares:

“Recently, we were able to build a small meeting house for worship with bamboo, wood, and tin. 10 families in this area have believed in Lord Jesus as their Savior.

I have also been conducting a study cycle of the book ‘Knowing the Living God’ by Paul Washer with a total of 155 students over two months. Furthermore, I have organized a study to go through the book ‘Discovering the Glorious Gospel’ by Paul Washer, engaging a total of 80 students."

Please pray for this missionary and his ministry in a difficult location in South Asia. Pray for strength, wisdom, encouragement, and perseverance for this missionary and for the believers in this region.

HeartCry Founder Paul Washer recounts a story he says he “will never forget.” While in a bookstore in Lima, Peru, Brother Paul met a small jungle pastor. In this providential encounter, God’s particular love for His children is beautifully displayed. Furthermore, Brother Paul emphasizes a key aspect of HeartCry’s ministry on the field, pointing out that the equipping and strengthening of local churches around the world is “what missions is about.”

“I was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1977 in a poor neighborhood. My childhood was during the period of heavy drug trafficking in Colombia and our community was greatly impacted by the societal problems at the time.

When I was fourteen years old, I looked for a gym in order to train for boxing. At the gym, the trainer, who was a famous boxer, became a father figure to me. I did not have a father and my mother spent most of her time working to take care of her four children on her own. With the help of my trainer, I was eventually able to win some championships and became a member of the Bogota boxing team for several years.

But there was also something else that was important about my trainer—he was a Christian. He shared the gospel with me and took me to church. He also met with a group of athletes in the mountains every Saturday morning. I liked to accompany him to those meetings mostly because I wanted to spend time with him, and not so much because I was interested in the Word of God.

When I was 18, I decided to attend church more consistently. There, I became friends with a number of Christians, but I still did not understand clearly what Christianity really was. I continued sinning against God, even though I lived as an “ethical” person.

A time came when my sin became a very heavy burden on my soul. I felt no peace and the pain inside kept intensifying. I saw that my life was in disagreement with God’s commands. My sin consumed me and I could no longer see it as trivial. I saw the seriousness of my sin and understood that it was committed against God Himself.

When I understood the magnitude of my sin, I began to look for ways to deliver myself from the slavery that tormented me. I started reading the Bible and listening to sermons on the radio. I understood that I needed the gospel, but I did not have clearly in my mind what the gospel was. Much of what I was hearing in sermons had to do with health and prosperity, but those things did not interest me. I simply wanted to be set free from my wickedness.

One day on the radio I found a program that was playing a sermon. I believe it was that day I truly heard the gospel of the grace of God. I fell in love with the Word of God and I saw that there was no other path in life that I could follow other than to follow the Lord. I was twenty-one years old when my life was brought into submission to the Redeemer of my soul.

I began looking immediately for opportunities to serve Him. My desire was that other people would come to know that there is freedom from sin through Christ. God put a missionary burden in my heart. I decided to abandon my boxing career and work in order to give myself the opportunity to do missions.”

"I didn't love Him as much as I loved myself... And my heart was actually super empty."

Exposed as empty, guilty, and fake, Heber Torres found peace and salvation in Jesus Christ. Heber recounts the the moments of his conversion, where he repented and believed in Christ and found release from his sin and guilt. He recalls: "I knew that Christ was my Savior. I saw all my iniquities, all the false religion that I was living. But at the same time, my guilt was totally gone, and I felt release. And I knew something had happened; I had a new heart."

Heber now serves the Lord as a pastor in Madrid, Spain. Watch Heber share his testimony of conversion and call to the ministry on the HeartCry YouTube channel.
