🌍 Calling researchers, innovators and technology developers!

Do you have a research-based climate solution with the potential to make a real difference?

The WAITRO Climate Solutions Initiative is looking for innovations addressing some of the world's most pressing climate challenges - from breakthrough research and promising prototypes to validated technologies already creating impact.

We welcome submissions in two categories:

✅ Proven Solutions: Validated, piloted, market-ready or implemented innovations with measurable impact.

💡 Emerging Innovations: Research-based ideas, prototypes and early-stage technologies with strong future potential.

We are particularly seeking solutions contributing to one or more of our three Transformation Areas:

🌊 Climate Resilience & Water–Food–Energy Nexus: Accelerating integrated solutions for water security, sustainable agriculture, energy systems and climate adaptation.

🏭 Decarbonizing Industry & Circular Economy: Supporting low-carbon technologies, industrial transformation, resource efficiency and circular production systems.

🤝 Climate-Responsive Societies & Just Transition: Developing innovative approaches that strengthen resilience, promote social inclusion and ensure that the transition to a sustainable future benefits everyone.

Selected submissions will gain international visibility through the WAITRO Summit 2026 in Istanbul, where they will be showcased to an audience of research organizations, industry leaders, policymakers, investors and international partners.

🌐 We are excited to announce that WAITRO has officially become an Associate of the Belmont Forum - one of the world's leading international networks of research funding organizations advancing sustainability research and global collaboration.

The approval was confirmed during the Belmont Forum Plenary on 30 June, where WAITRO had the opportunity to present its mission and growing portfolio of international initiatives. The presentation was met with strong interest and several member organizations expressed their willingness to explore future collaboration with WAITRO.

This milestone represents another important step in WAITRO's strategic development as a global platform connecting research, innovation, and international partnerships to address the world's most pressing challenges.

🤝 The Belmont Forum and WAITRO share a common vision: fostering international collaboration, strengthening research and innovation ecosystems, and translating knowledge into real-world impact. By connecting Research and Technology Organizations (RTOs), funding organizations, policymakers, and innovation partners, this partnership opens new opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

☀️ Fraunhofer Chile Research is demonstrating how floating solar systems can deliver clean energy while reducing water loss through evaporation. An innovative approach that addresses both energy access and water security in rural communities.

Across the globe, research organizations and universities are developing climate technologies with the potential to transform industries, strengthen resilience, and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.

Yet too many never move beyond the laboratory or pilot stage – not because they don't work, but because they never reach the right partners, funding, or implementation opportunities.

What if you left not only with new contacts, but with a co-created project concept, committed collaborators, and a roadmap for implementation?

Most conferences end with panel discussions, applause, and exchanged business cards.

📰 Across the Global Innovation Family, WAITRO members are developing solutions to some of the world's most pressing environmental, energy and sustainable development challenges.

This Member Roundup highlights four inspiring stories that demonstrate how research, innovation and collaboration are helping shape a more resilient future:

🔹 TÜBİTAK is advancing polar research through its 10th National Antarctic Science Expedition. During the mission, researchers conducted 15 scientific projects, collected critical environmental data and reinforced Turkey’s contributions to global climate and polar research initiatives.

🔹 Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) is empowering the next generation of environmental leaders through its participation at UNESCO’s 3rd Global Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Youth Forum. Representing Thailand, researcher Kanoktip Somsiri joined young leaders from 109 countries to advance biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and international cooperation.

🔹 The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is helping to drive Jordan’s renewable energy transformation. With decades of resource assessment, technical leadership and energy efficiency initiatives under its belt, the RSS/NERC has increased the share of renewable electricity generation in Jordan from just 1% to 27%.

🔹 SIRIM Berhad is promoting industrial sustainability with its ESG Readiness Program. This initiative provides Malaysian SMEs and mid-tier companies with training, certification and advisory services to help them integrate sustainability into their operations and enhance their global competitiveness.

Kicking-off of the Global Industrial Technology Innovation Conference 2026 & China–Australia Innovation Week 🇨🇳 🇦🇺

The conference opened with inspiring remarks from Prof. Lui Qing, director of the National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE), H.E. Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Australia, and WAITRO President Prof. Hasan Mandal.

As NICE celebrates its 5th anniversary, the organization is using this milestone as a springboard for advancing research and development, strengthening industrial innovation ecosystems, and accelerating the commercialization of science and technology.

During his keynote remarks, Prof. Hasan Mandal emphasized that innovation thrives through collaboration, co-creation, and mutual learning. He highlighted that only by working together can we face and overcome global challenges. At its core, this is what WAITRO stands for: sharing knowledge, creating impact-oriented solutions, and learning from one another. Looking ahead to the WAITRO Summit 2026 under the theme "Leading the Path of Implementation", Prof. Mandal emphasized how the Co-Creation Workshops during the Summit will help transform innovative ideas into real-world solutions, and how the Climate Solutions Initiative (CSI) will showcase and accelerate high-impact climate innovations, creating pathways to COP31, which is jointly hosted by Türkiye and Australia.

Over the next three days, discussions will focus on:
