NERVE SUPPLY OF EYE BALL

Eye ball is supplied by 3 types of nerves
1. SENSORY: branches from nasociliary nerve (from ophthalmic nerve V1): pass either directly to the eyeball (through long ciliary nerve) or passes through the ciliary ganglion, without relay to reach the eyeball through short ciliary nerves.
2. SYMPATHETIC: from superior cervical sympathetic ganglion, fibers pass through plexus around ICA and ophthalmic artery, also passes either directly or through ciliary ganglion (without relay) to reach the eyeball through long and short ciliary nerves.
3. PARASYMPATHETIC: from oculomotor nerve (III), fibers pass through nerve to inferior oblique and reach the ciliary ganglion where it relay and postganglionic fibers reach the eyeball though short ciliary nerve.
