Today at the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, we were at the heart of two key strategic discussions shaping the future of drought resilience and multilateral action.
We started the day at the francophone consultation "Bilan de la première semaine" Convened by the Institut de la Francophonie pour le développement durable - IFDD , this crucial review brought together the Africa Group, Group and to take stock of negotiations. As discussions highlighted 4 blocked agenda items, including participation, where we actively contributed to the collective reflection on how to build consensus amongst parties moving forward.
We welcomed the transparency on convergences, divergences points across drought, scientific tools, finance, and the Future Global Framework. We commend the efforts of the Mongolian Presidency and Parties to find a suitable landing zone for all. ACES reaffirmed that meaningful civil society engagement is non-negotiable for an ambitious and implementable outcome.
Moreover, we joined the high-level event on "Inclusive Drought Resilience: Gender, Youth and Investment," convened by the Global Mechanism of the , GWP SA and Graça Machel Trust.
Our message was clear: women, youth and local communities are not just victims of drought. They are innovators, entrepreneurs, and stewards of land and water. Exclusion has a cost. Inclusion is a performance driver for resilient investment.
We continue to defend the interests of , bridge evidence with bankable solutions, and work hand-in-hand with partners to unlock public, blended and private capital for locally-led action.
From dialogue to action, for people and land.
