Commemoration of the Day of the African Child 2026
To commemorate the Day of the African Child 2026, Global Relief Action for the Vulnerable (GRAV) organized sensitization activities in Yaoundé and Mokolo-Maroua under the theme “Ensure Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child.”
In Biyem-Assi (Trois Tombeaux), Yaoundé, GRAV conducted household sensitization visits reaching 44 people from 22 vulnerable households. Discussions focused on children's rights, child protection, proper handwashing practices, and simple methods of filtering water to prevent waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, and dysentery.
In Mokolo-Maroua, GRAV collaborated with the Delegation of Social Affairs in a peaceful awareness march and community service activity organized to mark the day. The team also visited an orphanage where children were sensitized on hygiene and sanitation, with emphasis on maintaining a clean environment and regular handwashing.
In both locations, the sensitization sessions were accompanied by practical demonstrations on handwashing and water filtration techniques. Soap was distributed to participants to encourage the adoption of good hygiene practices. These activities reaffirm GRAV's commitment to promoting children's rights, health, and well-being within vulnerable communities.
