OPENING CEREMONY AND LAUNCH OF THE 16 DAYS ACTIVISM AGAINST GBV IN YAOUNDE : NEWOLEC INVITED
The president of NEWOLEC was represented by Moma Janet Epse Jumbam, President of Mending Minds on Tuesday 25 NOVEMBER 2025 in Yaounde by the Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Family to the official launch the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence coupled with the opening ceremony. The event convened a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), ASTIC, Orange, Camtel, the police, and other partner institutions.

- Round Table Discussions: Participants engaged in constructive dialogue on strategies to combat GBV, strengthen collaboration, and amplify advocacy efforts.
- Testimony: A GBV survivor shared a deeply moving personal story in music form, highlighting the urgency of collective action and survivor-centered support.
- UNDP Video Presentation: A touching video message from the UNDP representative emphasized global solidarity and the importance of sustained commitment to ending GBV.
- Celebrity Call to Action: A second video featured Cameroonian celebrities urging the public to take a stand against GBV and support survivors.
Beyond the formal program, the ceremony provided an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow participants. Representatives from CSOs, international organizations, and private sector partners exchanged ideas and explored potential areas of collaboration. These interactions reinforced the importance of building strong networks to sustain advocacy and community-level interventions against GBV.
The opening ceremony set a powerful tone for the 16 Days of Activism, reaffirming national and international commitment to ending gender-based violence. NEWOLEC’s presence at the event demonstrated solidarity with partners, strengthened its visibility within the advocacy community, and opened doors for future collaboration.
