TIC BOOTCAMP 2026: WEEK ONE RECAP
On the 6th of July, our students walked into TiC Bootcamp for the very first time, ready to learn web development, robotics, digital marketing, and graphics design.
1. In Web Development, students went straight into code blocks, learning how an algorithm actually breaks down before ever touching a line of a website.
2. In Robotics, they got hands on with Tinkercad, opening the door into electronics platforms that most of them are seeing for the first time.
3. In Graphics Design, students learned to spot the difference between a flyer that pulls the eye and one that doesn't, and why hierarchy is what actually makes a design work.
4. In Digital Marketing, there was no easing in either. What is a business? What separates marketing from sales? How does a company actually find its customers? These are questions many adults haven't sat down to answer, and our students spent their very first week wrestling with them.
On Friday, everyone came together for a session on AI and Machine Learning. Students learned how to use AI to actually do research, and more importantly, how to prompt it well. Not just typing a question and taking whatever comes back, but learning to ask the right question in the first place. They also had special sessions on Google Workspace, learning their way around Google Docs and Google Slides. Picture a twelve year old going home able to prompt AI to help think through a problem, and knowing how to put together a pitch deck on Google Slides. That is what Friday looked like.
Every track was tied together by Design Thinking, and by Friday afternoon, students were standing up to pitch the project ideas they had been building all week, most of them for the first time in their lives.
This is what week one looked like. Shaky pitches, first lines of code, first flyers, first real questions about business and AI. Now imagine week two.
