YCD was honoured with the Environmental Impact of the Year Award at the CYECD 2026 Awards, recognising our commitment to youth empowerment, environmental sustainability and community-driven solutions.

For a young organization like ours, moments like this are encouraging. They remind us that the work matters and that the people who continue to show up, participate, volunteer and believe in the mission are an important part of the impact.

We are grateful for this recognition, and even more grateful for the journey that brought us here.

🏆🌱 A recognition of the work, the people, and the journey.

Youth & Contemporary Development (YCD) is honoured to have received the Environmental Impact of the Year Award at the CYECD 2026 CYES & Awards.

For us, this award represents much more than a trophy.

It represents the young people and communities we have had the opportunity to work with. It represents the volunteers who have given their time, ideas, energy and skills to move our work forward. It represents partners and individuals who have supported our initiatives, opened doors, shared their expertise, and believed in what YCD could become.

And it represents every person who stood with us during the voting period — every vote, every share, every message, every encouragement, and every effort made to help us reach this moment.

To our volunteers, supporters, partners, collaborators and everyone who has contributed to the YCD journey in one way or another: **thank you.** 💚

This recognition is also a reminder that the work we are doing is being seen and felt. The conversations we start, the young people we engage, the environmental actions we promote, and the solutions we continue to develop all contribute to something bigger than ourselves.

We receive this award with gratitude, but also with a renewed sense of responsibility.

There is still much to do.

We will keep working to empower young people, engage communities and create practical solutions for a more sustainable future in Cameroon. 🌍♻️

This award may carry the YCD name, but the journey behind it belongs to many people.

🌱 For the Environment: A mini greenhouse or self-watering plant pot out of 1.5L plastic bottles.
📚 For Your Studies: A portable smartphone stand or a lap-desk made from sturdy cardboard packaging.
👜 For Style: A stylish wallet, pencil case, or pouch stitched from old clothes or fabric scraps.
💡 For the Community: A decorative lamp shade made from plastic spoons or bottle caps.
