Protecting the World's Most Trafficked Mammal.

21 February 2026 - World Pangolin Day falls on the third Saturday of February each year. Observed annually by conservationists, researchers, and wildlife advocates worldwide, the day raises awareness about pangolins and the urgent threats they face.

The official theme for 2026, is "Pangolin Guardians in Action". This theme honors the conservationists, researchers, and community members working on the frontlines to protect these unique creatures through rescue, rehabilitation, and anti-poaching efforts.

Some key Facts About Pangolins;

Most Trafficked: Pangolins are the most heavily trafficked non-human mammals on Earth, primarily hunted for their meat (a delicacy in some cultures) and scales.

Species and Status: There are eight recognized species—four in Africa and four in Asia. All eight species are listed as threatened, ranging from Vulnerable to Critically Endangered, on the IUCN Red List.

Natural Pest Control: A single pangolin can consume up to 70 million ants and termites annually, playing a vital role in balancing forest and farm ecosystems.

Unique Defense: When threatened, they roll into a tight, near-impenetrable ball, which protects them from natural predators like lions but unfortunately makes them easy targets for human poachers.

How to Get Involved?

Spread Awareness: Use the hashtag on social media to share facts and photos.

Support Conservation: Donate to specialized organizations such as MEDA.

We say NO and stand against illegal and cruel killing of species in the Bakossi National Park (BNP).

Our poaching monitoring data and indicators do not speak well for the safety of species especially for frontline communities to the BNP.

Alternative sources of livelihood as critical to conservation efforts and successes. Let's empower forest communities socio-economically to achieve conservation objectives.

Join us in preaching conservation education to safe our critical species in Cameroon.

The Time is Now... We say no to poaching and illegal killing of species in the - Kupe-Muanenguba Division, South West Region of Cameroon.

The increasing rate of poaching around frontline communities in the Bakossi National Park (BNP) is a call for more attention from Conservation Actors.

The BNK is biodiversity hotspot in Cameroon, host to hundreds of species and plants. However, the threats faced by these species is increasing daily because of uncontrolled and unorganized human activities.

Don't forget - is an environmental development and conservation organization working with forest communities to restore nature, protect biodiversity and creating opportunities for forest people. In doing this, we shape the relationship between & .

Donate now to and help us give hope to critical species like , , , etc. in Cameroon.

As a frontline community-based Organization, we are better positioned to engage the communities in win win collaborations. Alternative sources of livelihood is paramount to protect our critically endangered species.

For partnership and donations - drop us a mail at [email protected] to help us continue with our key activities in the BNP.

Our field team also needs material support like Cameras, ArcGIS & ENVI Software, 4WD vehicle, motto bike, and other technical tools to step up our forest conservation programs in Cameroon.

Thank you to our partners who have been keeping our mission alive. Your support is needed even more during this strategic time for our species and planet.

Our life sustaining system - Tropical Rainforest...

They are known for their tall trees, which form a dense canopy, and support a vast array of plant and animal life. Tropical rainforests play a vital role in regulating global climate and are crucial habitats for a large portion of the Earth's species.

Tropical Rainforest are in important in the following ways;

Biodiversity - they support a vast array of plant and animal life, including medicinal plants.

Climate Regulation - help regulate global climate by absorbing carbon dioxide and influencing weather patterns.

Water Cycle - Play a crucial role in the global water cycle.

Natural Resources - provide valuable resources like timber & non-timber, medicinal plants, and food.

Ecosystem Services - tropical rainforest offer various ecosystem services like clean air and water, soil conservation, and climate regulation.
•Etc.

Despite these significant role that tropical rainforests play, they are threatened by - agriculture, logging, and other human activities.

Together let's protect our natural ecosystems for our survival.

Do you know that the Goliath frog (Conraua goliath) is the world's largest frog species and is found in Cameroon?

These frogs are known for their impressive size, reaching lengths of up to 34 centimeters and weights exceeding 3 kilograms.

Unfortunately, they are classified as an due to continuous habitat loss, hunting and water poisoning. Giant frogs are highly consumed especially in forest communities in Cameroon - threatening their sustainability or existence for generations to come.

We cannot afford to watch these frogs go extinct in Cameroon.

Do you know that in Cameroon, Pangolins are fully protected under Class A status? meaning they cannot be hunted or traded. However, they are still being threatened by poaching and illegal wildlife trade.

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal globally, with their scales being in high demand for traditional medicine according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Note that, killing or trafficking Pangolins comes with severe legal punishment in Cameroon.

Together let's protect Pangolins.
