AP-WORP, in partnership with GIZ, has completed the final selection of women who will benefit from the livelihood support program under the PROSIG project in Bamenda 3.

With active participation from stakeholders including MINPROFF, MINAS, MINPAT, MINADER, and the Bamenda 3 Council, the women learned about the project and chose the income-generating activities (IGAs) they want to pursue. These groups will later form Common Initiative Groups (CIGs) once the project officially begins.

Stakeholders also pledged support to ensure the project continues to benefit the women even beyond the project period.

We are hopeful that this initiative will be a turning point for women whose livelihoods have been affected by the 10-year conflict in the North West Region of Cameroon.

A big thank you to the German Development Cooperation, BMZ, and the German Foreign Ministry for making this possible.

Over 70 women from all 10 regions of Cameroon have gathered in Bertoua for the 4th National Women's Peace Gathering and what a journey it has been!

From Limbe (2021) to Maroua (2024) to Bamenda (2025) where our very own Founder & Executive Director Mme Munteh Florence Chea proudly hosted as Regional Coordinator of the Women's Convention in the North West and now we are here in the East Region.

The East Region carries a heavy but important story years of unresolved conflict and a refugee crisis that continues to affect thousands of lives. It is exactly HERE that the voices of women must be heard loudest.

Together we come not just to talk about peace but to build it.

Stay with us as we bring you updates from this powerful gathering!

Association for the Promotion of Women’s Rights and Peace Building (AP-WORP)

15 April 2026

As we hold our tickets in hand, ready for the upcoming peace meeting, we warmly welcome the forthcoming visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to the crisis-affected North-West Region of Cameroon on 16 April 2026.

At a time when our communities continue to endure profound hardship marked by exacerbated violence, displacement, and uncertainty this visit carries deep symbolic and moral significance. Women and girls, in particular, have borne a disproportionate burden of the ongoing crisis, facing heightened vulnerability, loss of livelihoods, and limited access to essential services.

As we await his arrival, we express our sincere hope that his presence will serve as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue and urgent action. We look forward to his strong engagement with national authorities and all parties to the conflict in advocating for an immediate ceasefire. The urgency of silencing the guns cannot be overstated.

We trust that this visit will inspire renewed commitment from all stakeholders toward a comprehensive and inclusive peace process, one that prioritizes justice, reconciliation, and the full participation of women in peacebuilding efforts. Sustainable peace can only be achieved when the voices and rights of women are recognized, respected, and actively included in decision-making.

We call on authorities and armed actors alike to seize this moment to demonstrate genuine political will, to protect civilians, uphold human dignity, and commit to long-term solutions that address the root causes of the crisis.

AP-WORP stands in solidarity with all affected communities and remains committed to advocating for peace, equality, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

We welcome His Holiness Pope Leo XIV and hope that this visit marks a turning point toward lasting peace in the North-West Region and Cameroon as a whole

Our hearts are broken and our anger is justified.

How many more children must suffer before we say ENOUGH?

We raise our voices for Divine, an 11-year-old child whose life was stolen in the most horrific way. We speak for her, and for every child in Cameroon who has been r***d, abused, and killed, silenced before they even had a chance to live.

This is not just a tragedy. This is a crisis, a National Emergency

Children are not targets.
Children are not disposable.
Children deserve protection, justice, and a future.

We call on authorities to take immediate and uncompromising action:

Investigate every case thoroughly and transparently
Ensure perpetrators are found and punished to the fullest extent of the law
Strengthen child protection systems across all communities
Educate and mobilize society to stand against all forms of violence

Silence protects abusers. Speaking up protects children.

To every parent, guardian, teacher, and citizen: stay vigilant. Listen to children. Believe them. Protect them.

To our leaders of, your response or lack of it will define you.

Divine deserved to grow. Divine deserved to dream. Divine deserved to live.

We will not forget her. We will not be silent.

International Women’s Day Message AP-WORP

On this International Women’s Day, the Association for the Promotion of Women’s Rights and Peace Building (AP-WORP) join her voice to raise a strong and urgent call for Rights, Justice, and Action for all women and girls.

While we celebrate the strength and resilience of women, we cannot ignore the painful reality that femicide continues to claim the lives of women simply because they are women. Since January alone, 19 women have already been killed. These are not just numbers they are mothers, daughters, sisters, and leaders whose lives mattered.

AP-WORP calls on governments, institutions, and communities to break the silence, end impunity, and take concrete action to protect women and girls. Justice must not be delayed. Prevention must not wait.

Today, we stand in solidarity with survivors and families of victims. We reaffirm our commitment to defending women’s rights, promoting peace, and building a society where every woman and girl can live free from fear and violence.

Enough is enough. Rights. Justice. Action. Now.

Reflect. Reconnect. Reignite.

Executive members and volunteers of AP-WORP recently gathered in Bafoussam for the AP-WORP Strategic Retreat 2026, a two-day meeting focused on reflection, planning, and strengthening the organization’s mission for the year ahead.

The retreat brought together the Executive Director, Munteh Florence Chea, the Vice President, Ngwa Peter, and dedicated volunteers who continue to drive the organization’s work in restoring dignity and empowering women and girls in communities.

One of the highlights of the retreat was the unveiling of the organization’s annual report, presenting key achievements and impact recorded over the past year. Members also held an appraisal session to reflect on lessons learned and outline strategic priorities for 2026.

Beyond strategy discussions, the retreat created space for team bonding, reconnection, and recreational activities, strengthening collaboration and reinforcing the sense of family within the organization. Volunteers were also appreciated with personalized gifts from the management team in recognition of their dedication and commitment.

As the retreat concluded, everyone left re-energized and united, recommitting to advancing the mission of empowering women and the girls in 2026 and beyond.

Commemorating International Human Rights Day 2025

Today, AP-WORP joined the Justice and Peace Service of the Archdiocese of Bamenda for a deep and enriching reflection on our collaborative interventions throughout 2025.

Together, we looked back on:
The most occurrent violations of Human Rights in the Region
The impact of our joint actions
The challenges encountered on the ground
The current human rights situation in our communities
Pathways for improved interventions and best practices moving forward
With over 25 participants, including legal practitioners, teachers, civil society actors, and other key stakeholders, the session provided a powerful space for dialogue, learning, and reaffirmation of our shared commitment to protecting and promoting human rights.
As we mark this year’s International Human Rights Day, we renew our dedication to fostering justice, peace, and dignity for all.
