Did you know that reproductive coercion violates multiple international human rights?

✅ The right to bodily autonomy
✅ The right to equality and non-discrimination
✅ The right to freedom from coercion and violence
✅ The right to informed consent and information
✅ The right to quality health services
✅ The right to privacy and dignity

When a woman is denied control over whether or when she becomes pregnant, ALL of these rights are under attack.

This isn't a "cultural" issue. It's a justice issue.

More than most people realize.

When a woman is forced into repeated pregnancies she didn't choose:
→ Household stress escalates
→ Parenting support is stretched thin
→ Power imbalances grow dangerous
→ Children can become targets of that tension — through harsh punishment, neglect, or abuse

Violence against children is NEVER discipline. It is often a symptom of a home under pressure — a home where a mother's voice was silenced long before.

Protecting children starts with protecting women's rights.

We rarely talk about this — but forced or pressured childbearing has serious health consequences:

❌ Too-frequent pregnancies = higher risk of anemia and complications
❌ No access to contraception = no safe spacing between births
❌ Delayed care during pregnancy = preventable deaths
❌ No informed consent = no dignity in healthcare

Maternal health is NOT just a doctor's issue. It starts at home — with whether a woman has the freedom to make her own reproductive choices.

When she does, families are healthier. When she doesn't, everyone suffers.

Every woman deserves to decide if, when, and how many children she has. This isn't a preference, it's a human right.

Yet across our communities, many women are still denied this choice. Their reproductive decisions are made for them by partners, families, or social pressure. And when that happens, it's not just unfair. It causes real, lasting harm: to her health, her mental wellbeing, and her children's safety.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) exist to protect every person's dignity, safety, and freedom to choose.

Tackling human trafficking remains challenging due to limited data and underreporting, especially at local level. Many communities are unaware of the concept, warning signs, and the proper steps to take when a case is suspected—allowing exploitation to continue in silence.

On this premise, organised a with the social group " Association'' in , , South West Region of .

The brief educated participants on what human trafficking looks like, how to protect themselves and others, and how to identify red flags early.

We also provided practical guidance on how to report safely and responsibly, encouraging prompt action and community support for victims. IOM - UN Migration Vital Voices Freedom House Agir ensemble pour les droits humains Global Fund for Women Common Action for Gender Development-COMAGEND Cameroon

is an egregious human-rights violation that occurs in several forms, including forced labour, domestic servitude, organ trafficking, and s*x trafficking. Although underreported, trafficking remains pervasive. Many people still do not fully understand what human trafficking is, and the confusion becomes even greater when it is discussed under the broader label “modern slavery".

Many children are trafficked every day in communities around us. They suffer severe abuse, yet cases often go unreported. It is on this note that conducts a campaign to sensitize teachers and pupils in the government primary school Batoke on the concept of human trafficking—especially how to recognize potential victims, protect themselves, and report perpetrators.

International Women’s Day 2026
Theme: Give To Gain
Today, the world is reminded of a powerful truth: when we give to women and girls, society gains.
At Fund for Women in Development (FWID), we see this reality every day. When we give survivors safety, they reclaim their freedom. When we give girls opportunities, they build stronger communities. When we give women a voice, they become leaders of change.
But the truth is also clear: millions of women and girls are still trapped in cycles of violence, trafficking, inequality, and silence. Empowerment cannot remain a slogan — it must be backed by action, resources, and justice.
This International Women’s Day, FWID calls on governments, partners, institutions, and communities to Give To Gain:
Give protection to women and girls at risk.
Give justice to survivors of violence and trafficking.
Give resources to grassroots organizations fighting for change.
Give women the space to lead, decide, and transform their communities.
Because when women rise, families grow stronger, communities become safer, and nations move forward.
Today we celebrate the resilience of women.
Tomorrow we continue the fight for their rights.
Give to women. Gain a just and equal world.

As per WHO, An estimated 4.5 million girls, many of whom are under the age of five, face the harrowing risk of female ge***al mutilation (FGM each year. If current trends persist, an alarming 22.7 million additional girls may be subjected to this harmful practice by 2030. Today, over 230 million girls and women worldwide bear the scars of FGM—a stark reminder of a global challenge that demands our urgent attention and action. The implications of these statistics are profound, highlighting the need for collective efforts to eradicate FGM and safeguard the rights and well-being of future generations.

First, FGM can cause severe pain, bleeding, and infections, affecting women's overall well-being. It often leads to complications during childbirth, putting both mothers and babies at risk.

Second, FGM violates the rights of girls and women, denying them autonomy over their bodies. It perpetuates gender inequality, reinforcing harmful societal norms.

Finally, stopping FGM promotes education and empowerment, allowing women to contribute fully to society. Supporting global initiatives to end this practice is essential for protecting health and human rights. By raising awareness, we can create a future free from FGM.
