Zion Health Foundation Gives Bilingualism Week a Health-Focused Touch at Zenia Bingual collage ZBC

Bilingualism Week at Zenia Bilingual College (ZBC), Buea Road, Kumba was celebrated in a unique and impactful way this year as Zion Health Foundation (ZHF) partnered with the school to combine cultural celebration with vital health education.
While many viewed the week as an opportunity to showcase Cameroon’s bilingual identity through language, culture, and entertainment, Zion Health Foundation saw a greater opportunity—to educate and protect young people by promoting healthy lifestyles and responsible decision-making.
The event was both highly entertaining and educative, capturing the attention of students through interactive sessions and open discussions. One of the major highlights was a health talk on menstrual hygiene, which addressed personal care, hygiene practices, and the importance of breaking taboos surrounding menstruation. The session empowered especially young girls with practical knowledge and confidence.
Another key component of the programme was sensitization on HIV/AIDS. Facilitators educated students on modes of transmission, prevention methods, and the importance of knowing one’s HIV status. To emphasize the relevance of the topic, it was revealed that according to CAMPHIA, about 21,000 new HIV infections were recorded in Cameroon in 2025, underscoring the need for continuous awareness, particularly among youths.
Going beyond sensitization, free and voluntary HIV testing was offered to students. Those who consented were tested confidentially and at no cost, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to ensuring that students know their HIV status and continue to stay safe while studying.
Through this initiative, Zion Health Foundation, in collaboration with ZBC, transformed Bilingualism Week into more than just a cultural celebration. It became a platform for learning, awareness, and positive action—leaving students better informed, empowered, and motivated to take charge of their health.

From Lifestyle to Survival: Understanding Cancer on World Cancer Day by kangli Jackson, Director of zion health foundation.

World Cancer Day, marked on 4 February, raises awareness about cancer, promotes prevention, early detection, and better care for patients. The 2026 theme, “United by Unique,” highlights that while every person’s cancer journey is different, collective action is essential to reduce the disease’s impact.
Once seen mainly as a problem of Western countries, cancer is now a growing public health challenge in Africa. Changes in lifestyle, urbanization, and environmental exposure have increased risk. Factors such as the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in farming, unhealthy diets, to***co use, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, infections like HPV and hepatitis, and late diagnosis all contribute to rising cancer cases.
However, many cancers are preventable. Prevention includes avoiding to***co, limiting alcohol, eating healthy foods, staying physically active, getting vaccinated, and participating in regular cancer screenings.
World Cancer Day reminds us that through awareness, prevention, and early action, lives can be saved and communities can be healthier.

We're thrilled to share that our recent gynecologist visit was a huge success! 🙌 Many of you have been wondering how we managed to bring a top-notch gynecologist, trained in India, to Kumba to serve our community. That's a story for another time 😉.

What we want to highlight is the incredible response and dedication shown by our team and the doctor himself! Dr. Chris worked tirelessly, closing the first day at 10 PM and extending his visit the next day, only leaving Kumba at 4 PM. His commitment to our community was truly inspiring! 🌟

We're working hard to bring him back to Kumba soon, and he'll be following up with patients he consulted, especially those struggling with infertility. 🙏

If you're interested in seeing Dr. Chris on his next visit, send us a message, and we'll get you on his schedule! 📨

A huge shoutout to our amazing nurses, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to this success! 🙌 Your hard work and dedication are invaluable. May God bless you all!

"It's been a BUSY WEEK for Zion Health Foundation!

On November 27th, we went out to Mabonji community and provided FREE consultation as part of our end of year activity with assistance from kosala IHC. Mabonji doesn't have a health facility, so we're glad we could bring healthcare to them!

Yesterday, November 28th, part of our team stayed behind to welcome our NGO partners, Rescue women, as they implemented one of their projects. They had a session with 23 pregnant women, educating them on gender-based violence, focusing on the role of pedophiles , and how mothers can protect their children. After the session, all 23 women received transport reimbursement, and a few vulnerable ones received a joy basket with emergency materials to support them throughout their pregnancy!

Another team left yesterday for MBalangi community for an outreach activity, partnering with OPHEG- and the consultation was MASSIVE!

It's been a busy week, and we're grateful for the opportunity to serve!

Check out the pictures below to see some of the highlights! 📸 "
