Choosing the Right University Path Shouldn’t Be a Guessing Game
Every year, thousands of pre-university students enter university unsure of what they truly want to pursue.
➡️ Year 1 in Marketing,
➡️ Year 2 switching to Law,
➡️ Then Communication, or something else entirely…
This constant back-and-forth doesn’t just waste time.
It wastes resources, years, and often leads to frustration, self-doubt, and delayed career progress.
Why does this happen?
• Limited career orientation
• Unclear ambitions and goals
• Little exposure to real job-market demands
• Lack of mentorship and guidance at a critical stage
To address this gap, Association for the Promotion of Education in Cameroon- APUEC in partnership with Fotabe University of Cameroon- FUNIC Cameroon, is launching a 12-week intensive Career Orientation and Mentorship Program for University Success.

What makes this program different?
• Deep career exploration aligned with current labour-market demands
• Insight into emerging trends and future-ready skills
• One-on-one mentorship and coaching
• Guidance rooted in students’ personal ambitions, strengths, and realities

This program empowers students to:
• Make informed academic and career choices
• Reduce unnecessary financial pressure on parents
• Begin preparing for a clear career pathway before sitting for the GCE Advanced Level

Opportunities like this may seem easy to overlook- but their impact is immeasurable.
The multiplier effects on students, families, and society are truly phenomenal.
Because the right guidance at the right time can change a lifetime.

One of our speakers Mr who spoke on parenting and child development, drew attention to how digital technology is already shaping children’s daily lives. He encouraged parents, educators, and caregivers to reflect on their responsibility in guiding children’s interaction with technology.

He identified four priority areas that require intentional reflection from parents and caregivers.
1️⃣ Children’s Screen Time

Parents should become more intentional about limiting and supervising screen time, as uncontrolled digital exposure can affect attention, behavior, and overall development.

Key questions to ask:
• How many hours does a child spend on a phone each day?
• Is that time productive or harmful?
• Do adults know what children are watching?

2️⃣ Digital Content Consumption

Parents should guide children toward meaningful and age-appropriate digital content, because what children consume shapes their values, mindset, and long-term behavior.

Key questions to ask:
• What type of content does this platform promote?
• Is this content educational or distracting?
• If consumed daily, who will this child become in five years?

At the Artificial Intelligence for Inclusive Education seminar, . spoke about the real challenge of AI in education. According to him, the danger is not AI itself, but ungoverned AI. He explained that AI is moving faster than school leadership, and many institutions are already exposed without even realizing it.

Below are four key areas he emphasized during his presentation, with practical reflections.

1️⃣ AI Is Already Being Used by Students and Teachers

Dr. Ifriky stressed that whether schools accept it or not, AI is already part of daily learning.
❓ Key reflection:
• Are schools aware that students are already using AI?
• Are teachers trained to guide its use?

Why it matters:
Ignoring AI does not stop it. Leadership must step in to guide how it is used.

2️⃣ The Real Risk Is Ungoverned AI

He emphasized that the danger is not AI, but using AI without policies, ethics, or direction.
❓ Key reflection:
• Do schools have rules on how AI should be used?
• Are teachers and students guided on ethical use?

Why it matters:
Without governance, AI can weaken learning instead of strengthening it.

Below are four concrete ways he explained that AI can be used for income generation, with clear examples.

1️⃣ Use AI to Learn Content Creation That Can Be Monetized:

Mr. Owona explained that AI can act as a personal trainer for content creation.

❓How to do it:
• Ask AI to teach you how to write content step by step.
• Example prompts:
o “Teach me how to write Facebook posts that help small businesses get customers.”
o “Show me how to write product descriptions for online shops.”
• Practice by creating sample posts and improving them with your own ideas.

✅ Income example:

AI IS NOT THE PROBLEM — HOW YOU USE IT IS

Artificial Intelligence is already changing how students learn, research, and complete assignments. Yet many students are confused: Is using AI cheating? Can teachers detect it? Why does AI help some students succeed while others struggle?

In commemoration of the International Day of Education, the Association for the Promotion of Universal Education in Cameroon (APUEC) is organizing a free seminar on the 24th of January 2026.

This seminar is designed to help students and youths:
