Le 5 mars 2026, les membres de Peace Brigades International (PBI) Cameroon ont pris part en ligne à une importante table ronde organisée dans le cadre de l’Africa Week, consacrée à la Protection Civile Non Armée (UCP) et à son rôle dans la prévention des conflits et la protection des populations.
Cette rencontre a réuni des universitaires, chercheurs et praticiens de la paix autour d’une réflexion sur les moyens par lesquels les communautés peuvent prévenir la violence, protéger les civils et promouvoir une paix durable sans recourir aux armes.
Les échanges ont mis en lumière :
-Le rôle essentiel des communautés dans la protection des civils ;
-Les ressources humaines et sociales mobilisées pour la paix ;
-Les conditions institutionnelles favorisant l’efficacité de la Protection Civile Non Armée ;
-Les perspectives d’intégration des initiatives communautaires dans les politiques nationales et internationales de paix et de sécurité.
La participation des membres de PBI Cameroon à cet événement a permis de renforcer les échanges d’expériences et les réflexions sur les approches non violentes de protection et d’accompagnement des défenseurs des droits humains dans les contextes de conflit.

On March 5, 2026, members of Peace Brigades International (PBI) Cameroon participated online in an important roundtable discussion organized as part of Africa Week, dedicated to Unarmed Civil Protection (UCP) and its role in conflict prevention and the protection of populations.
This meeting brought together academics, researchers, and peace practitioners to reflect on how communities can prevent violence, protect civilians, and promote lasting peace without resorting to arms.
The discussions highlighted:
- The essential role of communities in protecting civilians;
- The human and social resources mobilized for peace;
- The institutional conditions that foster the effectiveness of Unarmed Civil Protection;
- The prospects for integrating community initiatives into national and international peace and security policies.
The participation of PBI Cameroon members in this event helped to strengthen the exchange of experiences and reflections on non-violent approaches to the protection and support of human rights defenders in conflict contexts.
