At the same time, many young people say they lack the right information, guidance, and safe spaces to ask questions about their bodies, relationships, and boundaries.

As Cameroon celebrates the 60th edition of national youth day, on Valiant Women Radio Programme, we take a conversation many shy away from "Sexual education among young people: Why the Conversation Is Necessary"

Joining us are two young people NGIMBOUS Joseph Charles (President of APSA +) and MBACK Angèle (Peer Educator) they shared their views, experiences, and expectations. This discussion is about education, values, responsibility, and informed choices.

In the Littoral Region, the vaccination campaign in response to measles outbreak will focus on three health districts namely Cité des Palmiers, Logbaba, and Yabassi health districts. According to Leonard EWANE, the regional coordinator for the expanded programme on immunization in the littoral, this is because these are high risk areas and the initiative targets children aged 9 months to 9 years.

Measles remains a major public health concern worldwide. In Cameroon, health authorities have recorded new cases in 54 health districts since the start of 2025.

To curb the spread, the Ministry of Public Health will launch a national measles and rubella vaccination campaign from August 13 to 17, 2025, targeting five regions.

The objective is to achieve 100% vaccination coverage targeting children. 9 months to 9 years, strengthen population immunity, and prevent future outbreaks, by ensuring at least 95% of parents are sensitized.

The vaccine is administered by injection in the arm. Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that manifests as rashes starting on the face or neck and spreading to the rest of the body. Although there is no cure, symptoms can be managed, and vaccination remains the most effective prevention.

*Cameroon Launches Nationwide Catch-Up Vaccination Campaign for Children Aged 0–5*

The government of Cameroon is planning an intensified nationwide vaccination campaign targeting children aged 0 to 5 years. Scheduled to run from July 31 to August 4, 2025, the initiative will focus on 63 priority health districts across all 10 regions of the country.

According to a press release signed by Public Health Minister Dr. Manaouda Malachie, the campaign aims to catch up on routine immunizations, particularly for children who have never received any vaccine doses (referred to as “zero-dose” children) and those who have incomplete vaccination schedules.

This strategic intervention comes in response to gaps in vaccination coverage, especially in underperforming health districts that record high numbers of unvaccinated children. The ministry of public health hopes the move will help boost national immunization rates and reduce the risk of vaccine-preventable epidemics.

The campaign will deploy health workers and social mobilizers across various locations including health centers, temporary sites, markets, places of worship, chiefdoms, and even door-to-door in hard-to-reach communities such as islands, insecure zones, and areas with difficult access.

Vaccinations will be free of charge, and parents are urged to cooperate with health workers and mobilizers who will be sharing information on where to get their children vaccinated.
