The second round of the local immunization days against Polio which will run from July 9 to 12, 2026, alongside the Mother and Child Health and Nutrition Action Week (SASNIM) is underway in Cameroon.

The campaign targets over 6.3 million children aged 0 to 59 months in six regions—Adamawa, Centre, East, Far North, Littoral and North—who will receive the free oral polio vaccine. In addition, children aged 12 to 59 months across all ten regions will receive Vitamin A supplements to strengthen their immune system, support healthy growth and protect them from illness.

Speaking at the launch in Douala, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie, urged parents and caregivers to welcome vaccination teams into their homes and ensure every eligible child receives these life-saving services.

Le Cameroun lance la deuxième phase de la campagne de vaccination contre la poliomyélite. Cette campagne cible plus de 6 millions d'enfants âgés de 0 à 59 mois à travers le pays, qui recevront le vaccin antipoliomyélitique oral.

Prévue du 9 au 12 juillet 2026, l'initiative sera couplée à la Semaine d'Actions de Santé, Nutrition Infantile et Maternelle (SASNIM), au cours de laquelle les enfants âgés de 12 à 59 mois recevront une supplémentation en vitamine A afin de renforcer leur système immunitaire.

Alors que la vaccination contre la poliomyélite se déroulera dans les régions de l'Adamaoua, du Centre, de l'Est, de l'Extrême-Nord, du Littoral et du Nord, la supplémentation en vitamine A sera administrée dans les dix régions du Cameroun.

Vaccines save atleast 2 to 3 million children globally from Vaccine preventable diseases. Parents are encouraged to open their doors to immunization teams as cameroonian public health authorities ensure all children are vaccinated against polio in this second round of local immunization days. The campaign is set to last from July 9 to 12, 2026.

From July 9 to 12, Cameroon will carry out the second round of the Polio Vaccination Campaign, alongside the Mother and Child Health and Nutrition Action Week.
If your child is 0–59 months old, make sure they receive the FREE oral polio vaccine. Children aged 12–59 months will also receive FREE Vitamin A supplements to strengthen their immune system, support healthy growth and reduce the risk of illness.

Now Polio is a highly infectious disease that can cause permanent paralysis, but it is preventable through vaccination. Vitamin A helps boost immunity, improve vision and protect children from severe infections.

Therefore:

✅ Welcome vaccination teams into your home.
✅ Take your child to the nearest vaccination post if needed.
✅ Every eligible child should receive the vaccine, even if they have been vaccinated before.
