Menstruation is not a choice.
Shame is not the answer.
Silence should never be.

Today, we joined over 20 organizations in Buea to walk, speak up, and challenge menstrual stigma.

We walked because no girl should miss school because of her period.
We walked because dignity matters.
We walked because inclusion matters.
We walked because menstrual hygiene is power, not shame.

More than a walk, today created conversations, amplified voices, and strengthened our collective call for change.

Together, we raise awareness. Together, we raise voices.

In many low- and middle-income countries, up to 70% of girls experience their first period without understanding their menstrual cycle, leaving them confused, afraid, and unprepared for what is happening in their bodies.

When girls don’t understand their cycle, it can lead to misinformation, anxiety, and missed school days yet when they are informed, they grow in confidence, better manage their health, and can recognize what is normal or when to seek support.

Knowing your cycle is empowerment, dignity, and self-care 🌿

At Vision in Action Cameroon, we are responding by creating safe spaces for menstrual health education, breaking stigma, and supporting girls and women with accurate, youth-friendly SRHR information.

Through our tool MORIA, we are also making it easier to ask questions, access guidance, and get support without shame or fear.

We believe no one should navigate menstruation alone.

Share this with someone who needs it. Let’s break the silence together 🌸

Care keeps families alive.
Yet care work; raising children, supporting loved ones, caring for elders, maintaining households is too often invisible, and unsupported.

A truly pro-family society invests in:
• Affordable childcare
• Maternal healthcare
• Mental health support
• Paid parental leave
• Community care systems

Care is not a private burden.
It is a public responsibility.

Families thrive when care is recognized, shared, and supported.

April was a month of deepening impact through innovation, partnerships, and community-centered action.
In this edition of our monthly newslettrer, you will explore how we are strengthening youth-focused systems, advancing inclusive health conversations globally and locally, supporting frontline health service providers, and expanding dignified menstrual health access through MORIA, our new WhatsApp-based chatbot.
We also spotlighted our team members Nyingka Hariette and Baloli Victorine Namolongo whose dedication, leadership, and growth continue to drive our mission forward. Their stories reflect the passion and commitment behind the work happening across communities every day.
More than activities, these stories reflect growing shifts toward safer, more inclusive, and responsive health systems for communities.

We invite you to read, reflect, and see how collective action continues to drive meaningful change.

Despite claims of being “pro-family,” too many governments are making life harder for families around the world. From cuts to healthcare and family planning services, to austerity measures that erode social protection systems, to migration and conflict policies that separate loved ones and make communities less safe, families are being asked to carry impossible burdens with less support.
Yet families continue to care, adapt, nurture, and imagine better futures.
In 2026, as the world marks the International Day of Families under the theme Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing, we have an opportunity to ask a deeper question: what does it actually mean to support families? How can governments deliver for all families?
Families need safety from violence, war, displacement, and climate disaster.
They need care systems they can rely on.
They need healthcare, including sexual and reproductive healthcare.
They need housing, food, education, and decent work.
They need the freedom to move, to stay together, and to define their own futures.
They need recognition in all their diversity.
These needs easily translate to policy demands, ones that are truly pro-family: universal healthcare, paid parental leave, social safety nets, freedom from violence, legal recognition, and the freedom to pursue our own life projects.
From 15–22 May, we are amplifying voices and demands for policies that allow ALL families to thrive.
Because every family deserves dignity, safety, care, and opportunity.
Join us in reshaping the narrative around what families want!

Your period can affect more than just your body — it can affect your mood, energy, emotions, and overall wellbeing too. 🤍

During your period, be gentle with yourself. Rest when you need to, stay hydrated, eat nourishing foods, move your body lightly, listen to music you love, talk to people who make you feel safe, and give yourself permission to slow down.

Most importantly, remind yourself that it is okay not to feel 100% all the time. Your body is doing important work, and you deserve care, patience, and kindness through every phase of it. 🌸
