(3) days of transformation and change #
The newly trained women are now equipped with powerful IT skill and are being deployed immediately to become digital peacebuilders and prevent violent extremism in their communities. They are turning digital tools into instruments of:
Fighting Digital Extremism: Using critical digital literacy skills to spot fake news, violent propaganda, and hate speech shared online. They are teaching their families and networks how to discern credible information, stopping radicalization at the source.
Creating Counter-Narratives: With their Social Media Marketing and Branding expertise, they are launching positive campaigns on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. They are sharing stories of tolerance, community success, and hope, directly challenging the divisive and violent messages of extremist groups.
Building Safe Online Spaces: They are utilizing communication skills and online tools to create and moderate safe, constructive online groups for youth. These spaces provide opportunities for dialogue, mentorship, and addressing local grievances before they escalate.
Digital Advocacy: They are using their IT skills to collect information, document community issues, and advocate effectively with local municipal leaders who were also trained. This ensures that resource allocation and peace initiatives are data-driven and responsive to real community needs.
Our mothers are the first line of defense in the home and the community. By giving them the skills of the 21st century, we empower them to create a safer, more peaceful environment for everyone.
