At Youth Thrive Initiative - Cameroon , we believe that information is essential for young people to thrive. That's why we were excited to participate in a project organized by the Network for Solidarity Empowerment and Transformation for All , supported by the Commonwealth Foundation Commonwealth Foundation.

The focus was on a new Draft Law on Access to Information, 2025, which aims to ensure that all Cameroonians, especially young people, have the right to know. This project involves advocating for the Freedom of Information Act

Why is this important to us?
Without access to the right information, young people may struggle make informed decisions.

When young people are informed, everything changes. They ask questions, make smart choices, speak up, and lead.

This is what Youth Thrive stands for. A Cameroon where young people can grow, lead, and thrive without fear. It all starts with truth.

Let’s open the doors. Let’s break the silence. Let’s make information a right, not a privilege.

UNEXPECTED "BENEFITS" OF Drugs/Smoking (Not!)

Prepare to be amazed by the real "upsides" of lighting up:

1) Avoiding old age... because your lifespan decreases.
2) Dog-bite immunity... thanks to a stick needed for walking.
3) Burglar-proof sleep… because the smoker cannot sleep with all the coughing.
4) A guaranteed fit body... through starvation due to toxins from drugs/cigarettes.
5) The possibility of meeting your maker way too early...due to diseases caused by smoking.

If these benefits sell you drugs/cigarettes, there is no hope for you!

Youth Thrive Initiative - Cameroon is pleased to report on its successful participation in the recent National Conference of Local Organizations. This important gathering provided a unique opportunity to network with fellow Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and advance our shared commitment to sustainable development in Cameroon. A key outcome of the conference was the establishment of vital partnerships with several organizations working in areas that directly align with YTI's mission: combating drug abuse, fostering peacebuilding initiatives to counter hate speech, and addressing the challenge of unintended pregnancies. These new collaborations will significantly enhance our collective capacity to serve vulnerable youth and contribute to a healthier, more equitable Cameroon. We look forward to sharing updates on our collaborative projects in the coming months.

Youth Thrive Initiative - Cameroon is proud to share about our recent school outreach program in Buea! We spent time with young people, delivering vital information about the dangers of substance abuse, addiction, and unintended pregnancies. These critical conversations equip young people with the knowledge and tools to make informed choices and build healthier futures. Youth Thrive Initiative - Cameroon participated in the University Lecture on Peace in Africa, held on November 14-15, 2024. The conference focused on the critical role of youth in peacebuilding and preventing child recruitment into armed conflicts.

Participants engaged in discussions about empowering young people as agents of change, highlighting the importance of grassroots initiatives and community collaboration. The event also addressed the need for effective government policies to protect youth and prevent their exploitation in conflicts.

This conference aligns with our mission at Youth Thrive Initiative to empower young people in peace processes and combat child recruitment. By fostering resilience and community engagement, we aim to create a sustainable future for youth in Cameroon.

Together, let’s work towards building a peaceful and just society!

We are excited to share that Youth Thrive Initiative Cameroon will be attending the University Lecture of Peace in Africa conference!

Under the theme "Youth, Peace Process and the Prevention of the Recruitment and Use of Children in Armed Conflict and Armed Violence," we look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and collaborations aimed at empowering youth, fighting against hate speech and promoting peace in our communities.

This is a vital opportunity to connect with fellow advocates and share strategies that can safeguard our children from the impacts of armed conflict. Together, we can amplify the voices of youth and work towards a brighter, more peaceful future for all.

We're excited to share that Youth Thrive Initiative - Cameroon recently held a school outreach program at Government High School Buea!

We engaged with students to discuss the dangers of substance abuse and its impact on their lives. Our message focused on making healthy choices, building resilience, and accessing support if needed. We gave our telephone line for students to reach out to us in case they are already caught up in the trap of substance addiction.

We believe that empowering young people with knowledge and resources is crucial to creating a brighter future for them.
