Celebrating the 40th Edition of International Women's Day in Buea

The festivities for the 40th edition of International Women's Day commenced on March 1, 2025, in Buea Town with an exhilarating marathon titled "Blow It."

At around 6 AM, women from all walks of life gathered at the field, eagerly collecting their T-shirts in preparation for the race to the mountains. Participants were divided into groups: youths, middle-aged women, and seniors, all ready to showcase their strength and unity.

As the sun began to rise, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement, and the time to start the race approached. Emmira Foundation was on hand to capture every moment of this inspiring event. The race kicked off with a heartfelt prayer led by a local religious leader, followed by empowering words from esteemed speakers. The official blessing of the event was given by His Royal Highness Chief Dr. Robert Esuka Endeley, adding a touch of honor to the occasion.

With the blessing bestowed, the women took off in a burst of energy and enthusiasm. It was truly an incredible sight to behold!

After the inspiring talks delivered by our remarkable guest speakers, the event took an exciting turn as everyone eagerly dove into the practical sessions. The first activity was a baking workshop led by none other than Boma Miranda Fobekom, the CEO and Founder of Emmira Foundation. It was a delightful experience as she shared her special cake recipes, captivating the young girls who gathered around to watch her in action. Once she finished demonstrating, she divided them into groups, encouraging each one to create their own cakes. This hands-on approach allowed them to learn, experiment, and embrace their mistakes as part of the journey.

The second practical session was led by Mrs. Ngwe Amalia, a talented artisan known for her magical creations. She introduced the art of shoemaking and crafting earrings from traditional fibers. The young participants listened intently and were given the opportunity to try their hand at these crafts, fostering their creativity and skills.

In summary, we left the event filled with joy and confidence, knowing that every young girl present felt a spark ignited within them to pursue these newfound skills in their personal lives.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we are excited to introduce the remaining remarkable guest speakers at the Emmira Foundation Empowerment Program.

First up, we had the inspiring Mr. Mafanny Lyonga, CEO of MafFy Media, President of the Creative Corner Foundation, and a branding expert. This extraordinary young man emphasized the importance of being intentional and meticulous about branding their businesses, no matter how small. His speech ignited a spark of motivation in the hearts of many young girls present, inspiring them to rebrand their own ventures.

Next, we were graced by the presence of the remarkable Mrs. Ngwe Amalia, Co-President of Afro Heritage Workshop, Entrepreneur, and Trainer. Standing out in a room full of men, she showcased her hard work and skill as an expert in crafting traditional footwear for both men and women, as well as beautiful earrings and other creations. Truly, she reigns as a queen in her domain.

Returning to our male speakers, we welcomed Mr. Karl Elad from the USA, Head of Technical Program Management at Google Cloud. An MBA cloud expert, he adeptly leverages technology to provide business-focused solutions. His presence was invaluable, as he connected technology with empowerment in ways that resonated deeply with the young women in attendance.

Joining him was his brother, Mr. Bless Elad, also from the USA. A pharmacist and entrepreneur, he is passionate about creating impactful opportunities for young girls. One key takeaway from his talk was the importance of "having multiple streams of income," a message that undoubtedly left a lasting impression on everyone present.

Lastly, we had the pleasure of hearing from Mr. Job Otumide, Branch Manager of CCC PLC, Finance Expert, Speaker, and Entrepreneur. He passionately encouraged the importance of savings and took his commitment a step further by offering to create free bank accounts for all attendees—a truly generous gesture!

▎EMMIRA Foundation Empowerment Program: Empowering Youths and Women

On January 25, 2025, the EMMIRA Foundation hosted an inspiring and transformative empowerment program at The St. Claire Hall in Molyko Buea. This event was specifically designed to empower young women, with a vision of helping them fulfill their purpose and transform their communities. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as predominantly young girls gathered to partake in this educative experience.

The program featured a lineup of remarkable speakers, both local and international, who shared their insights and experiences to motivate the attendees. The event commenced with a keynote address from the esteemed Madame Ediage Lucia, the Regional Delegate for Women Empowerment and Family. Her empowering message resonated deeply with the audience as she urged each girl to prioritize hard work and focus in their pursuits. With her eloquence and grace, Madame Ediage captivated the young audience, leaving them in awe and inspired to take actionable steps toward a brighter future. It was evident that her words would create a lasting impact on their minds and aspirations.

Following her address, Mr. Emmanuel Fobekom, Co-President of Deeper Intimacy in Marriage, leadership expert, pastor, and husband of the Foundation's founder, Miranda Fobekom, took the stage. His powerful message prompted deep reflection among the attendees, encouraging them to consider their roles as future leaders and change-makers in their communities.

As the program progressed, participants engaged in various activities designed to foster personal development and community engagement. The day was filled with learning opportunities, networking, and empowerment that aimed to equip the young women with the tools necessary to make a difference.
